====== Aerofly FS Paths ====== ===== Installation Folder ===== The installation path (or installation folder) of the Aerofly FS 4 is usually defined in the Steam settings. - Open the Steam software. - Click on the "Library" tap at the top. - Select the Aerofly FS 4 Flight Simulator from the list in the left column - Right click on it and select "Properties" - Switch to the tap "Local files" in the window that opens - Click on the button "Browse local files..." This will open the installation folder of the Aerofly FS 4 in a separate Windows Explorer window. ==== Contents of the Installation Folder ==== The installation folder contains all libraries, executables, game-content like textures or models and shaders. The folder contains sub-folders like the aircraft and scenery folder for the default aircraft and sceneries. Custom made aircraft, scenery or liveries should **not** be installed to these folders, use the user-folder instead (see below). ===== User Folder ===== The user folder of the Aerofly FS 4 is a location on the hard drive that is not touched by any Aerofly FS 4 updates. Here all contents either created by the user or installed as add-ons are located. Per default this folder is created in the user-documents. **Windows** A short-cut for this directory is: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Aerofly FS 4. Simply paste this path into the path text-box of the Windows Explorer, it should automatically replace %USERNAME% with the Windows user currently logged in and open the user folder. **MAC** On Mac OS you can find the user folder in your library containers.: Macintosh HD⁩/Users⁩/.../Library⁩/Containers⁩/com.aerofly.aerofly-fs-2-mac/⁨Data⁩/⁨Library/Application Support⁩/Aerofly FS 4 ==== Contents of the User-Folder ==== The Aerofly FS 4 user folder contains sub-folder for the installation of custom made aircraft (also used for repaint) and scenery, a folder for saved screenshots as well as the personal settings for the simulator (see config-files) as well as the mission progress and the tm.log. * main.mcf - main configuration file * tm.log - program log file ===== Creating Short-Cuts ===== > **Recommendation** > When inside the installation or user folder of the Aerofly FS 4 go one directory higher in the Windows Explorer, so that you can see the "Aerofly FS 4 Flight Simulator" or "Aerofly FS 4" folder in the Windows Explorer, then either drag it to the left column of the Windows Explorer to add it into your "Favorites"/"Quick access" or right-click on it and select "Send to" -> "Desktop (create link)".
