DEv Question: How did you guys do the angled runway in the preview pics for the upcoming scenery

There is a picture that show the runway changing elevations. HOW did you guys do that.

I think we documented that in the scenery SDK actually. I'm not sure where that part is in the wiki but I do remember writing it.

You basically make a 3D model of the runway and don't use autoheight.

A sloped runway also works with autoheight set to true, if the underlying elevation data is good enough.

Keep in mind almost all airports in CA, NV, AZ and UT are created with autoheight set to true!

Hi,

to my knowledge this is a function of aerofly. When you export your 3D runway out of 3DMax or AC3D, it places it over the existing elevation mesh, just adding a smoothing algorithm to prevent spikes and steps. Up to now I mostly used autoheight true.

Rodeo, that is correct. We apply a smoothing function to the underlying elevation data.
