Mustang60348,
great, that you got it sorted out and did already a tutorial for it.
This should help all aerofly designers to get additional objects into the sceneries, whether they use 3Dmax or AC3D.

I just hope someone can use it.

Awesome, thanks a lot!

For anyone else following this video note that the SketchUp export also outputs a folder of textures used. If you're moving files around don't overlook that or you'll get a textureless model in MCX (the subject of my post above now deleted).
Anyway, now I'm up to texture/drawcall optimising and conversion to BMP and I'm hitting this problem: "Materials editor" doesn't match the video - no tabs at the bottom. What I do see though is a mass texture editor which looks useful as I have quite a few,
Update
I've tried using mass texture editor but it fails looking for the location of ImageTool which seems to be an FSX executable.
I found a download for it? Is this the right thing/safe?

Phil,
this image is version 1.3 of ModelConverterX, it is outdated.
Go to the Development releases and you'll find the actual version.

In Version 1.4, MCX has the texture editor as a tab at the bottom on the materials editor. I don't like it as well myself (yet) and it is missing a convenient option called rename (replace string1 with string2).

Thanks guys that's all working. I have my model in AC3D now... just need to work out how to get it in the game. I'll read the wiki.

don't forget to ensure your textures have no alpha layer, otherwise your objects will bleed through in AFS2.
Thus, once your textures have been converted in BMP by MCX, just make sure they're saved in 24-bit format (RGB) and not 32-bit (RGB+alpha).
My 2 cents

Also, when using GIMP for BMP changes, it seems that when you "Export As", you need to check the "Do not write color space information" in the Compatibility Options for the FS2 Content Converter to like that texture.
