ok thank you Querty, you always make sense, thanks for the detailed explanations !

ok i did the decals with the proper runway markings such as 01 and runway 19 then exported it separately and got ybbn_decal.tgi, then when i ran the converter i get the message, i checked the tsc file and the tsc file states ybbn_decal for the file name.

do you know why i am getting this error msg
converting 3 image files in parallel

This can be ignored. The converter tries to convert all images in the folder, but the background bmp isn't needed other than for visual reference. This error does no harm. You could put your background image in a subfolder- i do.

Great stuff. They should rename this thread Phil & Clayton's thread, 7 pages and going strong! I'm currently trying to follow qwerty42 's guidelines on more complex runways.

yeah very true ! the thing is my 5 yr old and my wife are away for 6 weeks, this would NOT have been possible if they were here, i need full concentration to learn this and learn and educate myself as much as possible before they come back, because when they do this is NOT going to happen !
p.s
how does on add a new thick line for the runway from the texture file (f10) to put on the runway say i want a thick line on the runway surface how do i do that?
-
can someone please tell me how i can fix this

In surface mode select an existing line and copy/paste it. It appears on top of the old so move it then stretch & resize as needed. You end up with a new object but you can merge with the old object.

ok thanks Phil and the last post of mine with the "hole" in the runway?

sorry not really sure what is going on there

Yep, that's not a problem though. The easiest thing to do is just add all those decal objects to a group, and name the group "XXXX_decal" where XXXX is the name of your airport. When you're ready to convert the airport, export this group and save it to XXXX_decal.tgi

Hmmm... I'm not sure quite what happened here but it looks like your 'outside area' mesh for your runway has gotten messed up--the cutout was made narrower than your actual runway and one of the square surfaces appears to have been deleted. You can fix the hole but it's hard to explain in words and I think would only create confusion. The best option is to use undo until it goes back to normal, but if it's too late for that I can make a video that shows how you can fix a hole like that.

ok thanks Querty, what i did was just started again, the more practice i get the more it helps me remember the steps.

i found object > merge easier as i ended up with 7 or 8 of these on one runway
-
thanks Phil will try it

when i go to the night time i see the runway all lit up, is this part of the decal ?

Independent of decals I'd expect. The TMC file talks about lighting, so maybe its in there. I like it - but sometimes its more than the runway suits.
