Well... afaik there has been one developer who gave it a try, Lionheart Creations, and the last thing I read about that is that he gave up on it (last summer). Not too encouraging. Maybe there have been more developers who looked at porting their planes to AFS2 but I haven't heard of them.
Dino Cattaneo shows up from time to time trying to figure out how to move forward with bringing some of his excellent designs to AFS2.

I care more about new scenery then anything else, I can live without ATC, weather engine, static weather... for now.
You say it's a small team, ok, fine. Yu need others big players to join. Like Active Sky or REX. Why not Little Nav Map?

I know Orbix etc has been mentioned but I'm still finding all kind of hidden gems in the base game with it having so many airports in interesting places. Some with cars, people and various aircraft. Love it.
Flying over the mountain ranges has changed. 
First flt sim I flew was this. About 37 ago. Still a great hobby!
