    Which flavour of 2080 is that? I see there are some that have more GB than I have RAM...

    Wondering what benefit would accrue?

    It's a Zotac 2080ti. They all have 11gb of ram, and interestingly, they really love Vulkan, apparently.

    Vulkan for the first time for me, is now much faster than OpenGL in Aerofly.

    Yes. I can use the Oculus tray tool visual hud to watch the FPS in VR

  • I wondered why one would fork out 50% more for the 11GB flavour.

    It's not just the extra gigabytes. (I actually was hoping for 16) Its all those additional Cuda cores in the ti variants.

    As far as performance gain, it seems to be easier to stay in the 90 FPS range, and these cards appear to like vulkan a lot more than my previous card. In fact vulkan is now faster than opengl for me

    In the Oculus at least, it depends on your settings, supersampling especially. Depending on that, the lights can appear bright or dim, sharp or blurry. Even the color can appear to vary, slightly.

  • Clayton, my experience with VR night lights (Odyssey) is that they usually look fuzzy because the night lights are optimized for 4K monitors versus the lower resolution VR displays. If they were optimized for VR, the PC monitor version would have lights that looked too dim/small.

    Today, when you develop your own scenery with lights, you have to pick a diameter for each type of lights being generated. I like to use the VR headset for FS2 so I've been creating lights with half the diameter that I would use for a PC monitor.

    When VR headsets catch up to 4K monitors, there will be less of a difference although monitors will still have to deal with ambient light.
