Controller Setup for Lights and the F4U

Hi,

I've assigned keystrokes to turn aircraft lights on and off. Except for dimming or brightening the instrument/panel lights, none of the rest work for the F4U. The instrument / panel lights can be adjusted, but not separately. With the Cessna 172 I can get all the keystroke shortcuts to work as expected, and the instrument / panel lights can be independently controlled.

Are there any plans add light control to the F4U (strobe, beacon, landing, taxi , etc)?

Hello Adak, the problem with the lights is that every aircraft manufacturer calls their light switches differently and some light switches combine the functions of different lights.

E.g. in the Learjet one switch controls taxi and landing lights, in the a320 you have one switch that combines the taxi light and a brighter nose gear light and two separate landing light switches. In the 737 you have four landing light switches. In the q400 you have one approach and one flare light, but no switch labeled landing light.

And this goes on and on for different light groups... Which is why the few available light assignments do not fully work on each airplane. There are too many discrepancies between the light switch configurations, we will need to invent some form of adapter per aircraft but this is still on our Todo lists.

Thanks, Jan, for that clear explanation. It illuminates (no pun intended) just how difficult IPAC's job is implement realistic modeling of the aircraft!
