I’ll do more tests. Any comment on the sound? Is it just their audio files or is there some different technology going on here?
I actually haven't checked our their final product myself yet, so I can't comment on that yet.

I don’t have the retail version first available earlier today. I am on vacation with only an iPad. It sounds like the 20 page tutorial flight may have been removed for the AFS2 version.

Ray

Sounds right as the 70 odd page manual is actually only 45 pages.
An updated manual with a tutorial Flight is being written as we speak. The delay was to tailor the airports to IPACS default airports. Kudos JF.
The existing Tutorial Flight used UK airports where FS2 does not have scenery.

Kudos JF indeed. I already found it odd that they would include an FSX/P3D/XP tutorial for AFS2 in a region that AFS2 doesn't cover. Happy to hear JF found that odd too. I suppose that tutorial will also include basic information that's missing now (like how to get the plane to cold and dark).

I'm sure they wanted it released for the Easter break. Suits me - I'm happy they left a few small things like this for a later upgrade.

Most people have FS2 from steam. Add ons from anywhere are compatible

Yes.

It's Steam compatible. And I presume also AFS2-DVD compatible. It's unlikely that Just Flight will sell their add ons on Steam so you will have to buy it directly from Just Flight. It's a very easy process (the purchase as well as the install).
EDIT
Others typed quicker.
I wonder how many people here bought the plane already! I don't see many 'mini reviews' yet. Let's hope enough people buy it so the stream of various 3rd party add ons will finally start coming!
I bought it but didn't even find time to install muss less to fly .
Kind regards, Michael

25 hours a day/ 8 days a week is not enough? 😜
I'll be on holiday for two weeks from tomorrow, that's it ... hope I can assign at least a few hours inbetween to try the new toy.
Kind regards, Michael
I’m guessing you will like it.

Off topic: Ray at his best!
Finally had the time to fly. Few things I noticed:
- nice sounds apart from a bug (see below)
- a lot of things work, even the circuit breakers! Lots of things to push and turn!
- mixture works!
- cold and darks works but when starting in cold and dark the COM2, ADF and transponder are on. I think they should be off...?
- the manual says you can enable GPS mode for the AP by clicking on CDI but nothing happens: the plane won't follow the flightplan no matter what. Does GPS mode work in this plane or not?
- in HDG the HSI still shows NAV in red...? Is that normal?
- during cruise setting throttle from 23 MP to 15 MP has an effect on speed but not on altitude... Shouldn't the plane lose altitude too?
- ALT on the AP seems to do nothing: the plane keeps on going up or down, no matter what
- bug: the engine sound has a terrible tick every 10 seconds: the start/end of the loop is clearly audible. Quite annoying.
All in all it's a nice plane and it seems a step forward from what we've got but I think I'll wait with flying it more until we have the tutorial because a few things are unclear to me right now (see above).
BTW Where is the buzz about this release? Hardly anyone is posting about it here, no one is posting about it on AVSIM, and the Just Flight forum seems to be quite dead... Pity.
I agree, I expected this forum to explode! When the R22 arrived it was buzzing here.
Must be the holidays interfering.
GPS is a future update for AFS2. In work but was not ready for initial release. Will be the GNS530 lite in free update.
Only nav1/comm1 works in existing GPS. Moving Map controls inop in GPS.
ALT s/b working to capture present altitude. Captures alt when pressed.
Red flag for HDG and Red flag for NAV. Two different sources.
Flight Tutorial will be ~ 20 pages airports will be in a Default DLC. Guessing 2 VOR 1 NDB checkpoints cruise at 10,000 ft. S/b very entertaining and educational. Coming soon with manual update.

Ray

LOL I hear it!! Make it go away!

-> the aircraft losing speed without losing altitude could be caused by the autopilot ALT hold mode, have you checked that? If ALT hold is pressed throttling down would slow the plane down while altitude is held because the AP pitch trims up to prevent loss of altitude. Theoretically this could cause a stall if you throttle down too much while the AP forces the plane to fly straight.
- mixture works!
Do you mean it works in a realistic way, that is that you have to lean the mixture above a certain altitude to improve engine effectiveness? Or does it work like in the default Cessna where full rich always leads to best power no matter how high you fly?
