AeroScenery made scenery loading in patches

Test excel and word please. Works still fine for me with these settings.
Unfortunately it doesn't. I just opened a spreadsheet which I frequently use and numbers like "12.344,56" now read "12.344.56" (not quite unexpected for me).
Nonetheless, it's at least a way I can try. Another alternative would be to run AeroScenery on a laptop which I rarely use for work (but which is weaker, so Geoconvert might need even more time and I would have to shift the generated files afterwards).
The proper solution would certainly be to modify AeroScenery itself to regard the number format.
Kind regards, Michael

Michael, you maybe have missed it, I also changed the thousends seperator from "." to " ' ".
At least, new Word and EXCEL documents work OK with it.

I redid a couple of tiles in Northern Germany tonight, after modifying the Windows separator so the TMC value is shown as 0.01 as it should. While the output file structure looks definitely different to before - indicating the value has *some* effect - the produced scenery still shows an edge between sharp and blurry regions in-sim.
I was really in hope that would resolve the issue, but it didn't. Maybe time to return to the FSET/GeconvertHelper combo which, as far as I recall, didn't have that issue. Unfortunately I have mixed memories on usability of that couple.
Thanks for all your help despite, Michael

"TomSimMuc" I think I now have messages activated?

Yesterday I created Vaeroy, Norway in ZL16. I selected the largest tile. I forgot unfortunately to do the coastalline editing. But loading wise, no issue.
Today i had some time at work, and i launched ZL17, selecting smaller tileset, 13 size. I created level 14/15 per recommendation. After testing tonight, it did only load half of the island. It loads in patches.
i wonder if level 14/15 is too high. Lower appears to be working fine.
-
I have been doing some tests too, using the high speed (for me any way) F15 Fighter flying it at maximum speed to load the simulator.
All scenery made with "AeroScenery".
Flying over Ireland made with grid size 9 - levels 9, 11. 12 and 13 and resolution 2.389 no loading problems whatsoever.
Flying over Zealand Island Denmark made with grid size 10 - levels 10, 11. 12 and 13 and resolution 2.389 scenery tiles do not load until the aircraft is virtually at the change over point of the on coming new tile.
It would appear that the missing level 9 is causing this problem or is it level 10?
So in future I will only make scenery as I have in the past at grid size 9.
Kindest regards,
Michael.
PS I will do more testing.
-
So, assuming that i add to my level 14/15 the level 9, guess this would fix it, right?
-
I'm not certain at the moment Martin,
I'm just downloading a test tile from Zealand Island Denmark at only level 9 at 2.389 resolution and will report back here.
-
I made some tiles in levels 9, 11, 12, and 13 over Northern Germany (around Hamburg) and had scenery loading in patches when flying in fast planes.
I already thought it's maybe the missing (by default - choose for me) level 10, but didn't try yet to include it.
Michael (I), only level 9 might work (perhaps), but that's a pretty low quality isn't it?
Kind regards, Michael (II)

Back from the drawing board and further tests.
Please read my original reply to Michael on 25 th April.
I can now confirm that the fix for my Zealand Island Denmark scenery made with grid size 10, ZL 16, (resolution 2.389 M/PIX), and levels 10, 11. 12 and 13
I made a new grid size 9, ZL 16 and only in level 9.
Add this to the existing scenery and the loading problem disappears.
Try it Martin and see if it works for you too?
-
So, if I properly understand, I will have to make all levels 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 for Image level 16 - 2.389 m/px - correct? ... Sometimes I am a bit slow (at age 67)
Thanks and kind regards, Michael (II)

Hi again Michael,
It seems with my limited knowledge that if you make scenery with the largest grid square 9 it works OK because it makes levels 9, 11, 12 and 13 for ZL 16 which is 2.389 M/PIX resolution.
However it would appear that if you use a smaller grid box, like I did for Zealand Island in Denmark, using grid size 10 this removes level 9 only giving 10, 11, 12 and 13.
If you have made scenery with grid box 9 and used the "Choose For Me" button you should be OK.
What grid size box did you use for the scenery that is giving you problems?
Kindest Regards,
Michael. Age 63 years young!

I made ZL 16 which is 2.389 m/px and selected levels 9, 11, 12 and 13 according to choose for me. And this gave patches with fast planes (A320). Actually also with the Cessna, but these ware barely noticeable but could be seen on the GPS.
I'll be away for the next couple of days by might try adding level 10 to the mix afterwards.
Kind regards, Michael (II)

So here is the situation with Vaeroy I got now.
I created all ZL16 (2.389 m/px) from all Lofoten
I created uniquely ZL17 for Vaeroy Island
I installed first, the ZL17 only, which had default only AFS Level 14/15 created. I was hoping to start over again with Lofoten as I forgt to edit the stiched images. This is why I started with the Island first. Then I had patch loading.
Since I had ZL16 with all AFS levels created, I installed them. Ugly, the white spaces in the ocean ... but now I got a mess. sort of.
I deleted everything
Now i installed ZL16 for the whole area and then ZL17 for the Island. Now it works. No patch loading. I was asked to overwrite some files, that were identical.
Now I got a few white patches left from ZL16 and the nice edited ones
If you don't create AFS Level 9, looks like not going to work properly.

Michael and Martin,
I had the Laptop running during last night and this day to produce a new data set. ZL16, AFS levels 9, 11, 12 and 13, this time based on Google. Before trying it, I cleaned up all remnants from earlier trials, removed the link to the extra folder I had and copied the files from the 6 tiles directly into
C:\Users\(profile)\Documents\Aerofly FS 2\scenery\images
I just completed a flight in the A320 in the area, and contrary to former experience didn't observe any patches so far .
There are several explanations: (i) The difference is between bing and google, which I doubt, (ii) I had some stray files from earlier (maybe much earlier) experiments which were blended in. (iii) It's indeed the TMC entry. I had this one set to 0.01 now by changing the number format on the laptop (which I can't do on the main machine permanently because I need it for work.)
Quite happy so far. I'll expand the area this way and see what happens when I'll be back.
Thanks for your research, Michael (II)

Based on this new information, I am starting over again with Norway Lofoten. Lot of work ahead ...

Michael 2 and Martin,
Happy that my fix worked out in the end.
Michael 1.
PS Reading earlier replies I think "StrongSafety" owes me a beer or two.

Ok. I firgured our the following
Switzerland Scenery contains Ortho for these levels.
9
11
12
13
14
So, if one generates a new Ortho, by maintaining these levels, it should be fine and no patch loading.
I have loaded now the tile from Svolvaer, ZL16, AFS 9,11,12,13,14. Everything is perfectly running.

Size for this tile is 460MB. Quite comfortable.
I tested with the Ortho from flight-sim.org Tenerife. It does not contain Level 9, it does contain 10 to 13. If you are in GCTS, the Teide, the center of the island is not rendered. For me a clear indicator that we need to have always AFS 9

Yes, I always include "level 9" - and have never had any problems. I would also recommend the advice of crispy136, here:
