Hi guys,
What is the best way to import and read PDF or doc files while in VR? I have the rift and hate my small monitor now😄😄

You are lucky with the Rift, as the Oculus Dash environment allows you to pull windows into any VR game. So open the PDF, or a browser window, or Skyvector. Non Rift users have clunkier alternatives.
I have managed to use OVRDrop for the display of FSWidgets' GMapHD in AeroflyFS2 recently. This is using a WMR (Acer AH101) headset and does not required controllers (which I don't use).
Installation and arranging the 2D window for proper display was a bit tricky, but after this has been done once it's quite easy to load the saved setting and run it.
Unfortunately, OVRDrop does not come with a proper manual. However, the manual of OpenVRDesktopDisplayPortal being a precursor works quite well. You may even try to use the program OpenVRDesktopDisplyPortal at Github itself as a free alternative (which I didn't try, though).
This should be usable for pdf (and other 2D) display as well.
I tried a couple of alternatives at Steam but failed to get them to do what I wanted.
Kind regards, Michael
Edit: Thanks Phil, you were faster, so mine is one of the clunkier alternatives indeed.
Wow thanks Guys,
Wonderful information!
Tnx

Morning Michael. I've switched from OVRDrop to DailyVR 2. It works a lot better and the developers are responsive - still its an extra step of configuration so I don't switch it on regularly.
OVR Toolkit looks to be pretty good.
For WMR, it is standard for build 1903

Sorry, i don’t follow. What is standard?
Hi guys,
So I bought both ovrdrop and dailyvr and I just don't manage to open a screen in aeroflyfs2 whatsoever. PDF, word file or browser......I do not see anything while wearing my Oculus rift (only in Oculus home environment but NOT while running afs2)
What am I doing wrong??
Any advice would be great!
Jozeff
Hi Jozeff,
I only speak German, but maybe my two links will help you further;
I have also bought both programs but have not had time to try them out.
Good for SkyVector, Charts or Checklist (pdf)!
Good luck!
Werner
Hey spit40,
Thanks for the advice!
I bought ovrdrop and dailyvr and both refunded. I couldn't get them to work ik aeroflyfs2.
Now I just use Oculus dash which does exactly what I want it to!
Never new it was so simple!!
Tnx again guys
Jozeff

Could access personal files from the Oculus Go also
