Do we have any documentation for the recent Lear45 FMS upgrade?

  • I see there are several new pages that seem to be active. The flightplan and fuel pages appear to be active but, active is to be take lightly. I read the change logs and found a few statements but no reference to documentation for use. This is a huge step forward and I would like to explore it to the fullest.

  • Recent?. At least it has been out several months ago (2-3?).

    Yea, I know, but it was in the last big updates for the Lear45 and there haven't been very many big ones. All the updates are appreciated but, this one seems to be something worth exploring more.

  • Has anyone made a camera view to zoom in on the CDU for the Lear45? This seems to be a must when flying. Super clear displays. Well done IPACS (Jan).


  • You should try enabling “Advanced View Mode” in Settings to have a better view of all the instruments. You can also zoom in or out with the mouse wheel.

    I already have "Adv View Mode" selected but, I'm not so sure I see a lot of difference. I am looking for quick look, super close up of the CDU and back to my basic flying view.

  • The screenshot was taken with the advanced camera on a wide screen monitor, just tilt the head to the right and down and zoom in and it should look similar.


    Changing altitudes is not yet supported but could very well be in the future.

    It has helped me a lot, but I guess it's a matter of "taste".

  • I made a little IPACS specific chart for Speeds and Landing Distance for the Learjet 45. We only have one weight, no matter how much or how little fuel is assumed. Actually, neither temperature or altitude or conditions affects performance so we really only need a handful of numbers to remember. Maybe I will compute one Landing distance for all altitudes, temperatures, and conditions. 8o


    Without all the factors applied the landing distance for our weight could be calculated as a single number for all conditions. I think a good round number would between 2,300 and 2,400 feet. This is taking some middle of the road numbers, some guess work, a fudge factor and a couple of SWAGs. It is based on a good pilot technique, smooth surface, full flaps, autospoilers deployed and use of thrust reversers to 60 kts then light foot braking.


    Wind direction and speed does seem to affect takeoffs and landings so maybe I can make a performance chart based on wind speeds and directional vectors instead of temperature and altitude. hmmm.


  • For the record altitude and temperature already have an effect on performance.

    Temperature is according to ISA though at the moment, so the ISA deviation is zero...

    And because of the decreasing density you have longer takeoff and landing distances just because you need more true airspeed and thus kinetic energy is higher

    Yes, I see the ISA temps changing at altitude. So the little IPACS specific Landing distance should be accurate for both temperature and altitude. But, fuel weight, which is significant, does not currently affect performance because it is not really being added or changed.


    I thought it was so cool when the other sims started showing the oleos compressing as fuel was added.
