Short info about making photoscenery.
As mentioned earlier (also by IZ0JUB/Michael) - bad orthos (water, sea, clouds, colors, etc.) can be a major challenge.
Here are some examples of just color correction for the upcoming Project Lofoten_11. And I can confirm that this is indeed time consuming.
And therefore, I understand why the thorough work of IPACS is also very time consuming.
I would be very interested to learn what photo editing software you use and maybe some helpful tips? Your editing knowledge and skills are far superior to mine.
Cheers Michael.
Hi Michael.
I use Photoshop. But I think you can do the same in Gimp. I'm no expert. I learn by doing. This is the easiest method I've found so far. Hope it can be of help and inspiration for your great contribution.
Here is an example:
(Select: Lasso Tool = Feather 10 px).
First: Remove unwanted color (red and yellow).
Second: Select the nearby color (green) and fine tune.
I use the free "Paint.net" but I do thank you for your help and examples.
Cheers Michael.
I suppose you use "Norge i Bilder" in the pulldown meny in "Aeroscenery"?. Very good image quality I think. As a native Norwegian who know the area well, I appreciate very much what you and your contributors are doing to make a excellent representation of a beautiful part of Norway in AFS2.
Greetings Per Gunnar

Thanks for kind and inspiring words.
Yes, I have to combine several types of orthos. Therefore, orthos from "Norge i Bilder" is of great help - thanks to the creator of AeroScenery (nickhod) - who implemented "Norge i Bilder" in the last update.
I did look at Gimp many years ago back in the FSET days and found it had all the bells and whistles but far too complicated for the likes of me.
Thanks again, cheers Michael.

Please note that the new folder "20_lofoten_map_09_8a80_c380" replaces the old folder "pre_release_20_lofoten_map_09_8a80_c380" (from Project Lofoten_5).
Be sure to remove the folder "pre_release_20_lofoten_map_09_8a80_c380".

Fantastic scenery 😃.
I am hoping for part 16 and 18 so the popular mountain peak "Stetind" becomes more visible ☺.
Are there any plans for these parts, or maybe there are not good images available?

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about this exciting mountain "Stetind". It should certainly be included in Project Lofoten.
I have previously downloaded orthos of part 16 and 18 - which unfortunately includes many "destructive" clouds (a lot of work). But now I have access to "Norge i Bilder". And I just checked - and it looks much better.
Do you know of other similar scenic areas in Norway?
Do you know of other similar scenic areas in Norway?
I am no living on Norway, but I can imagine the Southern fjord regions or part of them (Geiranger, Sogne, etc.) would look great in AeroflyFS2.
Kind regards, Michael
Thanks Hartman 👍. Stetind is a popular climbing mountain. It is very narrow and steep on one side. I hope the mesh is good enough to make it fully visible.
Norway is very scenic in different ways all along its coast. The most famous are your Lofoten and as pmb mentions, Sognefjord, Geiranger, Hardanger fjord. Also the Lyngen alps north of Tromsø is very scenic.
Another very popular place is the North cape platau. Europes most northern mainland point.
But i belive this is way to much for you to make, and the mesh loads in batches close to 60 deg north on my pc making this area ugly.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I have examined - and these orthophotos used by the X-Plane community are generally very good (faster to create scenery). But how can I run these "X-Plane" photos through AeroScenery?
Of course, I can download photos from Bing - and then manually upload and assemble all the pieces from the "X-plane"-photos (using Photoshop) - before converting to AFS2 in the usual manner. But it is an unacceptably big job.
Do any of our technical geniuses know how to solve this (stitch X-Plane ortho) through an automatic process?
