Is there some technical or other compelling reason AFS2 does not even recognize the Saitek/Logitech Backlit Instrument Panel (BIP)?
Support for Saitek/Logitech Backlit Instrument Panel - BIP

Is that an input device?
Doesn't look like it has any buttons that can be pushed at all?!
Does Windows recognize it as a game controller?

But how does the panel know which light to turn on? This is not a standard plug and play input device that acts as a joystick that sends commands to the simulator (one way into the sim), instead it expects some form of message from the simulator. Given that Aerofly already communicates with Saitek panels like the autopilot or radio stack I assume this can also be done for this panel but just hasn't been done yet.

That is the question, Jan. Maybe someone can take a look at what is going on. The software controls what is shown where and what color. It is a very useful Instrument when flying in the exterior views.

Without wanting to hijack this thread, I would like to recall the Logitech/Saitek Flight Instrument Panels
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/flight.html
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products…html#945-000027
belonging to the same product family as the Backlit Instrument Panel. I own a panel equippend with 9 of these devices which I can use in any simulator (FSX, P3D, XP), except AeroflyFS2. Support for these devices has been requested several times over the years since the early days of AeroflyFS2. Honestly, I have given up all hope, but would take the opportunily to remind this request is still open.
Kind regards, Michael

Michael,
I have 7 FIPS waiting to be connected to the first modern simulator that makes an effort for us to use them. The BIP is just a big black rectangle among the Multi, Switch, and two Radio panels. I fail to understand why it has been ignored here for so long.

Is there any way into that simulator information for microcontroller or single board computer D.I.Y. tinkering?
Making up a red LED for gear in transit and a green for gear down would be very helpful with the directionless/positionless gear selection currently in use. A smart keyboard might be able to do this but it would need to be in phase with the sim’s gear state. -
Jan,
Maybe you can ask someone on the team to take a look at the Saitek BIP and see if it can be added to the supported equipment list.
Hello,
I'm just sitting here wondering if anyone might be working on support for the Saitek Backlit Instrument Panel? A hint of progress goes a long way.
