New Model Converter X beta is able to convert scenerys (Airports and objects) from other sims to aeroflyfs2

  • so i am trying to undertstand the new animation projects i am trying out the new modelconverterx beta, after countless hours of trial and error i find a way to convert complete scenery to aeroflyfs2, because i dont ask the author of the scenery for permission to convert i can not show or publish the converterd scenery, but i am shure if you ask the authors of the freeware scenery they give the permission to publish as freeware, now i gave a short tut, downlad modelconverterx beta !, irfanview for batchconvert, total commander for easy fast file transfer, go tp x-plane.org, register and download your scenery ariport you want in aerofly fs2, extract scenery, delete othophotos if included., search and copy all texture files bmp. png, dds to eart nav data, convert all texture files with irfanview batch to jpg, copy again all to earth nav data, start modelconverterx, go wiizard and import scenery, open eath nav folder and load, wait until scerny is loaded complete,generate scenery and fix as many errors as possible (load mising libs from x-plane org, dont worry if textures are not shown in modelconverter x, then generate scenery again, now the most important, save scenery as wave front .obj to earth nav data, start modelconverter x again, load obj , save and convert as object aerofly tgi, run sdk object converter to full convert, dont blame me if its not working for all all scenerys, this should show you only the way whats possible with modelconverterx , i have a 2080ti so if have no problems with framerate, , maybe you have have (thing the complete scernery is now one object) and maybe it influence your framerate, thats it, happy converting

    now most important: save the scenery as wave front .obj to earth nav data,

    start modelconverter x again, load obj , save and convert as object aerofly tgi,

    run sdk object converter to full convert

    Would you mind making a TUT video of it, as the number of steps needed is quite huge?

    This would help a lot to replicate the work you have done.

  • yes sure, next week or so i can make y handy video with the steps, i know it looks like complicated and lot of work to convert but its not, the most part is file transfer from one folder to other, but the must important download the free modelconverter x beta from here : https://www.scenerydesign.org/development-releases/

    i dont know how long its available and i see a lot of great tools disappear because professional developers dont want them in user hands, in the meantime you can register to x-plane.org (free) and look for the best free scenerys and download it, then you can download the free master libs like misterx library, cdb library ...., also download irfanview and total commander (all tools and x-plane scenerys are free), maybe you can give me a hint about animation, so i dont have 3ds max i try to get so much infos i can get before i try the 30 free day trial of 3ds max, i undertsnad the creation of a the path then put the obj on it, but i am look for animation in animation like the sweeper guys from kege orbx, they move and were animated too, i think they put a animaterd fbx to the path and converted it but im not sure, think if it was possible to use animated animations in FS2 like orbx did on Kege the possibilities are endless for airport designer, think you have animated people whon walk around ant enter aircrafts, towers, cafes and so on....

  • some screens of fast converted big eddm munich in aeroflyfs2, not placed correct only for test, will ask the author via email at weekend for permission to publish the converted version as freeware for you guys so you have a good example how to do it with all steps, hope you like it

  • Good news, email send, hope author answer soon, also try to bring the simulator down to the knees with a converted airport big like a little city, the picture show how big the airport is, its only the airport not cultivation, still 500 fps + ultra in 1080p, if i had time i will try the reverb but the results should be the same no significant fps loss despite it as one combined mega object, so megairports+ultrascenery+ultramesh+cultivation should no fps problem huge megaobject

  • Hi ,have released EDDM on flight-sim.org, works best with fscloudport and hires scenery for munich and airport, will upload unconverted version tomorrow so you guys can tweak the textures or height if you want, so have a little fun before the tut comes

  • too bad, splitting up in objects is no options because its to much time consuming, so its not possible to convert the textures for graphic engine the right way it makes no sense to invest more time in this attempt, so i am not a fanboy i move to a other flightsim with streaming scenery, good fps in VR, (and Developers who released roadmaps and talk to the community), scenery tool should be released soon

  • Sorry Volker, it was not my intention to scare you away.

    As I said, other specialists may know a more efficient way to convert such a big project.

    Also there are smaller airports then EDDM which might be easier to convert.

    And finally: converting in smaller parts is still easier then designing such an airport from scratch.

    (Working currently on PHNL Honolulu Int'l, I know where I am talking from...)

    So still I would like to see your TUT video.

  • Hi Thomas, no need to apologize, it has nothing to do with you and the other great guys who spent so lot of time and build scenerys and addons for the community, but i am tired of the developers behaviour and the limits, .. we working on something but we dont tell you what it is.. dont steal our time with your questions there will be no roadmap.., as is mentioned i move to another sim with great scenery streaming (i try himalya lukla, venice lido and lofoten) and they looks great out of the box, autogen and airports are not so good but also great aircrrafts and helis yes with cold and dark and foremost hey the developer answer you, questions can we have ai traffic and moving cars, oh yes shure we love this too and working on this but first we will release the scene develop tools for better scenery..., thats the behaviour from a developer i need to dont loose the interest, but shure Thomas before i leave i will make a tut for you guys and maybe we see us in future again in another forum
