Issoire - Clermont-Ferrand with Google Maps 3D objects insertion (work in progress)

Hello !

I worked a lot on the Issoire-Clermont-Ferrand's scene, but this one takes on a new dimension with the insertion of 3D objects recovered by Google Maps.

Of course, up close, the buildings are rather diform, but from 100 or 200 m of altitude they take all their interest.

Yes this is more than interesting ! You mean you're able to retrieve any 3D object from Google Earth/Maps ?

Here we don't speak about the objects available from the 3D warehouse which is not more used by Google I think since they can generate every thing from the real world with their photogrammatry technics.

But if it is possible to recover data from their photogrammetry that means that we could have ultra-realistic sceneries for most of the big cities of the world. It would be really incredible !

But beyond the technical challenge there are inevitably legal problems, I guess it will be impossible to redistribute this kind of sceneries...

I dream that one day we could have a tool capable of generating cultivations from Google's 3D data for our personal use, just as we can currently do with OSM data with scenProc or with Bing/Google imagery with AeroScenery.

You are achieving some outstanding results with your new technique. Disneyworld in your SW Orlando, Florida scenery area would make an great display of the results. Lots of unique buildings and structures in a small area.
