Kann man France VFR - Paris-Ile-de-France unter Vulkan Spielen??

-

Vulkan was not working properly during the release of France VFR- Paris. This was for ALL sceneries in the simulator and has been fixed by IPACS. So the scenery works great in OpenGL and Vulkan.

GTX 1080TI
32GB VRAM

A+

My two cents

hello, sorry to answer in english, I don't speak german.
Here is my experience with Steam / Aerofly FS 2 / France VFR - Paris with a GTX 1060 / 8 Go RAM:
- Vulkan does not work when I fly close to Paris. It works when I am far away in the areas with a few 3D details, but as soon as I get closer to Paris, there is a crash.
- if I switch to OpenGL, ok it works on Paris, but with a slow frame rate (< 30 fps)
- whatever OpenGL or Vulkan, I also have some problems when I fly at low altitude for landing: the frame rate dramatically slows down which makes the simulator almost unusable for this flight phase, even in the areas with a few 3D details (for example the aerodrome of Etampes where there is only satellite images and 3D trees).
I think there are still some work required for this DLC because for other DLC (San Francisco for example), the framerate and image quality is perfect for me with Vulkan ("ultra" quality, CAVOK, 60 fps, 1080p).

If you only get 60 FPS over a scenery like San Francisco then either some setting is not optimal, or your system is somewhat weak for running a flight simulator.
With my rather mid-range system (check my signature) I'm ranging 250-350 FPS over San Fransisco both with OpenGL or Vulkan, and I get 80-100 FPS at the lowest over Paris downtown, with approx 200FPS on the countryside.
Below is a screenshot taken tonight cruising at 2'000ft right over the densest part of the City, top left number is the FPS, 1080p, ULTRA settings
What PC are you running, CPU and speed ?
GTX 1060 is a rather low range graphic card, but 8Go VRAM are ok.
There are 2 things I can recommend to gain some FPS on Paris :
1) try reducing the shadows settings that request quite a lot of resources - medium gives excellent visual results.
2) try disabling the lights by renaming the folder "idf_lights" as "__idf_lights" (adding a double underscore "__" prefix) in the scenery \places structures.
Let me know if this improves the flyability.
What I noticed is Vulkan is less stable and forgiving than OpenGL - as soon as something goes into the way it crashes to desk
Cheers

It is probably a GTX1060 with only 3GB VRAM like mine, and 8GB of system RAM? As far as I know the GTX1060 is sold with 3GB or 6GB of VRAM.
I have low frame rates over Paris and the Netherlands too, saving up for a GTX1660 Super now... The 3GB VRAM of the 1060 is the problem.
In VR ( 1440x1440 for each eye) I have to go down to medium settings at LOWI Innsbruck for a smooth experience with my current system. Paris and the Netherlands will have to wait for a better videocard.

Aber mach was du willst. Niemand muss DLC kaufen.

You're right, I just looked at the GTX1060 specs, the 3Go VRAM model has no chance, the minimal spec is 6Go VRAM, recommended 8Go...
The 3Go GC may work with older generation simulators if the CPU is strong enough, but current and upcoming simulators request much more VRAM to run.

Okay,
Tut mir Leid

You're right, it is 8 Go of RAM, and 3 Go VRAM, my other spec are Intel i5, 2.3 GHz
I get 60 fps with VSYNC on. With VSYNC off, I get 120 fps on San Francisco with ultra/ lens flare on / vulkan / anti aliasing on.
With my Acer VR mask, I also get a very good quality and frame rate with the same settings.
So for me, my PC is still very good for the Aerofly FS2 simulator, which I consider to be the best one for graphic quality optimization.
I am just disappointed about Paris DLC, because I thought that I would get the same performances when I bought it.
But I should have paid attention to the minimal requirements on the Steam store page ...
I tried your settings advice (medium shadow and disabling lights), but I still get a crash with Vulkan.
I will also try different settings with OpenGL to get the best fps.
Above Etampes airport (N48.38°, E2.07°), I get 130 fps. With my today's tests, I didn't have the same problems about landing.
I am not sure why, may be the total time flight, I will investigate.
Thanks for the help. At least I can use this Paris DLC which is of course beautiful!

It is great that Aerofly FS2 runs so well on our lower end computers, even in VR, though dense scenery like flying over Amsterdam or Paris exceeds the amount of VRAM on our cards. But I enjoy those other places, so much to choose from..
I can recommend Innsbruck and South Florida, both have an animation add on for free now too. Innsbruck is probably still on sale from Orbx directly...Great scenery with a smooth frame rate in VR for me in medium settings.
I will spend 250 in the future for a better graphics card (and more system RAM) but will probably go for VKB rudder pedals first to enjoy the R22 even more....
Have fun!
