Today is the 51st Anniversary of Landing on the Moon.

  • Yep, I just spent an hour reading the exploits in our Apollo50 scenery project. There are some truly great background stories there that Ken posted as we moved closer to launch day. I actually remembered a few more that didn’t make the cut.

This was an exciting time, both 51 years ago and one year ago when the team broke new ground building this unique scenery pack for AFS2. If you don’t have it jump over to flight-sim.org and get it. It’s free. 2,700 downloads, wow. 😯

Out now: Hawaiian Islands 8) Part 1: Kauai + Niihau v2

Work in Progress: Part 2: Molokai, Maui, Lanai, Kohoolawe + Molokini Crater

  • Thanks for reminding us this global event.

I still think, a list of POIs combined with these background stories would be a good addition to this scenery.

    Hello Rodeo,

I agree the list of POIs would be extensive. Lots of new ground was broken building this scenery and the coverage area is outrageously large. Did we ever calculate the coverage area? I remember we added 9 custom airports plus that unmade list of POIs.

  • I just made a rough outline of the coverage area using Google Measure and it looks like the Apollo50 scenery is 10,000 sq miles of high definition scenery. That is 26,000 sq km. wow. No wonder the user community is so excited.
