One riddle - Cultivation is not fully displayed

  • Hi,

it's frustrating: I did a hand-edited edit with FS2 Scenery Editor - but only half of my saved file was loaded. No matter what I do, if I want to add something new, it won't load! It always looks like an older save is being loaded! :(

Deutsch: Es KOTZT mich an! || :D

    thats, what i mean:

in editor ( look at the fields and the trees on the right:

    and here in FS2:

only a little bit was loaded, the field is empty and so...

Everything is loaded and saved correctly in the editor itself.

    Anyone have an idea?

  • I've just tested it: when I create a house or lights, these are displayed. Just no more plants. The scene can't be too full either - there aren't many plants in the scene yet.

  • Just a short question

How can you change the plant type in the FS2 scenery editor?

Direct: Rightklick over a plant: "Edit Properties" ->"group" or in the general properties: "plant" -> "group".

  • The next question would then be: How do I delete a thousand trees at once with the editor? I can only delete individual objects there! Or did I miss something?

  • How does it work: Will at some point no more trees be displayed above a certain amount in a * .toc file or on a certain area? Can I create two * .toc files for the same area, each with a reduced, permitted amount?

Too many trees decrease the performance. That's why there is a limit of the number of trees per cultivation file. Sure you could add more files but keep in mind that this could cause a visible border when there are too many files loaded. The computer has a limited memory size and with very densely populated areas/trees you cannot cover a large area. I would recommend to thin out the file, e.g. randomly remove every second tree.

  • You do so by changing parameters (bold marked) in the scenproc xxx.spc file

(Distance in deg in x and y direction)

    Higher numbers generate less trees
