For sailplanes. Thermals = rising air = lift = happy sailplane pilots. In the sim even at max thermal activity, I find the thermals to be very weak and difficult to soar with.
Ridge soaring using wind blowing upslope is mucvh more doable in the sim.
As in the real world the thermals need a bit of wind to get better. The thermal activity slider changes how many thermals there are and how strong they are.
