Aerofly FS 2023 Beta Version for Android

    • Official Post

    Dear Aerofly FS 2023 Users,

for our customers with an Android phone/tablet we have published an experimental version that offers aircraft and airport lighting even when using our standard OpenGL renderer. If you would like to test out this version, please visit any of the two links below:

Again, this update is highly experimental and there might still be devices that still don't offer lighting even with this version.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

  • With more optimizations to run on opengl, before it ran at 35 to 40 FPS, now it's at 3 to 5 FPS, crashing, it's a great job of you, I think with more optimizations in the lights and you can choose in the menu which lights to reflecting on the ground would be better, congratulations on the job.

  • I just updated to the beta version and I noticed that the landing and taxi lights of the aircraft are working on my device even in OpenGL but there was a big drop in frames on my device since in the official paid version the simulator was running at almost 60 FPS (59.67). You guys need to better optimize this beta version so that there is an improvement in FPS. Other than that I really liked this new version because the lights of the planes work even without the vulkan. With these lights working in OpenGL it's perfect for devices like mine that don't support Vulkan. You just need to optimize better for the FPS to increase and the simulator to run more fluidly without lags. My device is a Galaxy S20 FE equipped with a Snapdragon 865 processor. If before the frames were almost 60 and now dropping to less than 20 it means that the simulator is poorly optimized. I even think it's natural because it's a test version. I hope you developers improve this optimization.

There could also be an option there in the graph menu which lights to enable. for example, enable airplane lights, and in another column enable airport lights, both separately. That way you could balance the performance, and a tip the gate lights are not as important as the landing and taxi lights, good job to you. I'm going back to the normal version of Aerofly 2023 because I can't even play that one. but keep it up optimize more.

I believe that it is not necessary to disable the lights of airports, buildings and aircraft in order to have a performance improvement. Without these lights, it is very difficult to visualize any part of the airport. I believe that an optimization job without turning off lights is enough to resolve this sudden drop in frames. Or you can add the option to turn the lights on and off in the settings menu so that the simulator can run more smoothly on devices with weaker hardware. In the case of users who have devices with more powerful hardware, there is the option to activate the lights but without a sudden drop in frames.

A doubt. Are you releasing this beta version only for those who bought the official version? I bought the official version and got access to that beta version but others who didn't buy it didn't get access. When accessing these links, they are redirected to the Aerofly 2023 page in the playstore where the simulator fee is charged according to the currency of the country of origin. Can you confirm that only those who bought the official version access the beta version?

  • Hey so I tried this on my Poco F2 Pro which has a snapdragon 865. Lighting was working but I lost about 40fps. The game runs around 20fps compared to 60 before

    • Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Snapdragon 865 , 6GB RAM, 128 GB storage)
    • Iphone 14 Pro Max (A16, 6GB ram, 256GB storage)

I reiterate my opinion that it is not necessary to deactivate the lights of airports and surrounding buildings. Unless you add the option to disable the lights in the settings menu so that the simulator runs more fluidly on weaker devices. Below is a screenshot with the simulator running at 30.80 FPS, with pixel density at 100% and graphics at maximum. That way it's good, but it could be even better with an optimization job in the simulator without necessarily changing the lights, which in turn are of excellent quality.

  • This beta version doesn't work at all on my Samsung A41. There aren't any light reflections, the scenery dissapears and the aircraft becomes transparent. My phone doesn't have a lot of performance and it struggles with high graphic settings. That could be the reason. When I switched to vulkan, the resolution decreased even though I put the pixel density at 100%. I should mention that the other issues with the transparent plane and the invisible scenery goes away when I select vulkan.

The upper screenshot is with vulkan. Notice the low resolution. The lower screenshot shows the transparent 787 cockpit.

Everybody, please let's stay nice here.

Offering the airport lighting as an 'option' is usually not a good idea. Even if we write a big warning that this might reduce performance, we will get numerous support cases with complaints. Sorry, but it's always been like this. ( The same issue is with Vulkan, we shouldn't have offered this option as well, just too few devices support it and support cases are coming in with lots of complaints, even though we said it's experimental and not well supported ).

Our goal with this beta is to find out if this beta update works in general, which does seem to be the case. However, the performance on most customers phones is just too low, so we have to remove a feature here. But at least almost all users will get working aircraft light then, compared to the current version.

Android is unfortunately a difficult platform for a high performance application like Aerofly FS.

  • Android user, phone, Xiami Poco F3 snapdragon 870 processor, the lights look incredible, just need more optimization, I have 14 or 20 fps with external view and heading towards the landing lights, a temporary solution would be to remove airport lights so as not to generate a lot of loss of FPS, that would help to have at least 30 fps with the lights of the airplanes, which is the most important thing, the lights of the airports are not that important on my part, you could disable them and be left with only airplane lights excellent work ipacs

  • I think this test is dramatic. Because even though when I using Opengl, The stickers are gone. But when I using Vulkan. Not only did I find no problems, but the smoothness and stability of this version(01.18beta) was greatly improved over Version 01.17 . Even the FPS up to 60 from 30. Even though Opengl can't be used, I'm falling in love with Vulkan. As for me, this version is great!

Thousands of lights such as day, such as a dream, the end of the world at this time. :)

  • On my device, the FPS drop only occurs when I'm on the ground at the airport. After the plane is already in the air the FPS varies from 57 to 59. I put the graphics on medium. Even with the drop in FPS on the airport ground, the performance is acceptable and does not interfere with procedures before takeoff. I don't think it's relevant to remove airport lights. The lights make the simulator more beautiful and full of brightness. Compared to the 2022 version this beta version is much better with this new lighting. I really enjoyed it and I congratulate the IPACS team for the excellent work.

Please do not turn off the airport lights as the experience has been wonderful for me. It's almost the same as a PC simulator. I am impressed with the quality of both airport lighting and the lighting that airplane lights provide. I am in awe of the incredible work you have done on these lights. Despite the FPS drop I am really enjoying these new lights working on my cell phone. It's an experience I've never had in a mobile simulator. You demonstrate extreme competence, dedication and professionalism in what you do in relation to Aerofly. To value this incredible work I bought absolutely everything that was for sale in the simulator including scenery and aircraft packages.
