Navigation Database AIRAC Cycle, Navigraph

  • The AviaPlanner looks like good value for having all the charts in one place in the same format and has a planner that isn't overkill (I dont have time to read a 40 page briefing from Simbrief, etc).

Even if you cant import into Aerofly, you can still set up the route in the AF planner so and you can compromise if waypoints are different etc.

My question is presumably the dev's have the ability to create new procedures etc themselves when designing / updating airports, i.e can they update frequencies or set up things differently, if a ILS has disappeared etc?

  • Hi. If I remember well, I used AIRAC 1301 which somewhat worked with Europe. 2201 was good for Japan but for SID and STAR was terrible. Regards

    I fly therefore I am
MacBook Pro | M3 Max 36 Gb RAM | Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant Airbus Edition | Winwing URSA MINOR Airline Joystick
    X-Plane 12 | ToLiss A319, A320neo, A321(-neo/LR/XLR), A330neo
    simHeaven | BetterPushback | Traffic Global | X-ATC Chatter | X-RAAS2 | FlyWithLua
iPad | SimBrief | Navigraph (latest AIRAC) | WebFMC | MetarTaf

  • I don't understand the discussions (here and on steam) about the AIRAC version.

For other simulators like Xplane or MSFS you need a navdata subscription because of the different AIRAC versions in:

    • the simulator itself
    • all the aicrarft that you purchased
    • the tools that you use (like X-Life, X-Traffic)
    • and the flight planning tool (like Simbrief, Navigraph)

To make sure that all your data is synchronised, you need to use the same version of AIRAC (usually the latest) and pay a subscription fee to Navigraph.

With Aerofly you have a big advantage:!:

You don't need any subscriptions. You only need one version of AIRAC and in most cases it doesn't matter how old it is because the simulator and all the aircraft use the same database. Planning a flight in Aerofly is so easy that you don't need a flight planning tool like Simbrief, because there is no fuel consumption and you can enter the SID, STARS, VOR's, NDB's and Waypoints directly in Aerofly. It's certainly not like in real life ... but this makes life much easier and saves you time and money!

If new runways are being added to airports, you can still keep it simple: Just use the old runway.

  • Sorry, but using airways makes the flight so different and enjoyable. It is so frustrating when making a flight plan then trying to add the waypoint into the FMS and a format error pops up. I just can’t wait for IPACS to add airways(with updated waypoints), weight and live weather in the future.

With airways we could simulate real flights with the same exact route. The simulator would be compatible with simbrief, navigraph, …etc

Live weather would change the experience a lot! Routes will be faster or slower depending on the direction of the wind and how high you cruise. And it would also make flights in sync with navigraph.

Now I know that all of the this would complicate the simulator for some people and it maybe wouldn’t be user friendly, but it would change a lot for a lot of simmers! And it can also be optional in the settings for people who like the simplicity of the game. :)

Nope, it wouldn't. If you want compatibility with Simbrief and Navigraph, then you need a subscription for the navdata (plus Navigraph). Without this subscription for new navdata, Simbrief's database would get newer and newer every month. But the AIRAC version in the simulator will still be the old one.

I absolutely agree with you. But this has nothing to do with the AIRAC version or the synchronisation between Navigraph.

If you want all these "complicated" things, use Xplane or MSFS. If Aerofly would do the same things as Xplane and MSFS, why we would need another simulator like Aerofly? The main goal of Aerofly is to make things user friendly without additional subscriptions or buying additional payware add-ons. Just start the sim and enjoy flying.

    I don’t have a pc 🥲

  • The big question is why do you need an external app for flight planning? What features should be added to the Aerofly FS navigation which you currently need the other app for.

It’ll be more realistic and easier than add those way point on aerofly ‘flight planning’. There are ton of waypoints and instrument arrival and departure procedures missing and need to update. Having a up to date nav data is really important for flying

Im using Navigraph via iOS. I think maybe the Developer Team can make an API that can connect with Navigraph/Simbrief.

This will make our flight planning route more realistic.

And also, updated AIRAC is important to make our sim experience more realistic.

For example, WMKK (Kuala Lumpur) now have 3 runways (33 is the latest). But in the game there's only 2 runaway.

I've merged your thread into the existing thread with the same topic. Please read the previous posts in this thread for our answers, I don't feel like explaining it for the 10th time.

Short version: More than 99.5% of our customers don't have a Navigraph subscription and the app would have to increase in price by a factor of 10x or 100x to enable this for all customers. An outdated navigation database is not an issue as long as you stay within the sim.

I don't understand your disregard for users' desire to have an updated database and a website for flight planning. Planning flights in Simbrief and SkyVector is something very common in the best-known flight simulators such as X-Plane 11/12 and MFS 2020. Aerofly shouldn't neglect these features like you are doing.

It makes no sense to justify the absence of Navigraph support in the simulator, given that it would be an option for those who wish to update the AirAC database or not. It is not mandatory for everyone to update the database. Furthermore, the prices of Aerofly FS subscriptions have no relation to the prices of the Navigraph support subscription, as they are independent.
