New Steam Release with A321, Antares 21E, ASK-21, Winch Launch and Glider Tow

  • Edit: Now released in the official Steam release channel: A321, Antares 21E, ASK-21, winch launch and glider tow

We've been quite busy behind the scenes and are very happy to announce that a large glider update is coming soon! Not only are we adding two new gliders to the fleet: ASK 21 and Antares 21E but we've also been working on a full physics simulation for winch launches and glider aerotows. And we've been working on a number of glider fields as well.

With these new features you will be able to practice your flying skills in Aerofly FS

    • Self launch
    • Winch launch
    • Glider aerotow
    • Gravity launch (Lukla? :D)
    • Start in the air to practice outlandings
    • Start on final approach for landing practices
    • Simulated engine failure and landing with pylon extended

The A321 is now available in the Steam Beta for Aerofly FS 4 as part of the Aircraft Add-On DLC! Please test the new aircraft and all other aircraft and give us feedback below. To participate in the beta please go to your Steam library, right click Aerofly FS 4 on the left, select Properties, then Betas and select the latest beta version. Steam will then show an update for you.

When we know the latest Aerofly FS beta version runs stable we can move forward to adding glider launches and aerotows, which are not yet included in this update!

  • Simulated engine failure and landing with pylon extended

How would this work and wdym by engine failure does it happen randomly or by chance and what is the time line are we looking at?

If you pull the throttle to idle and not retract the prop it's like a huge airbrake. Plus you can push the big red button which cuts all electric power in the Antares then you get the same result but you also need to drop the gear by emergency gravity release

interesting but is there a official timeline of when the glider/A321 update is coming out?

Are Bex or La Côte (Swiss) airfields in consideration, or is it only Farrenberg that is being upgraded?

Kind regards, good day, and bon vol!

I've made a lots of small glider airports in my free time (not the same quality of course). The Farrenberg airfield was made by our designers with great attention to detail.

The airfields LSGB (Bex Airport) and LSGP (de la Cote) are available here, worked out by chrispriv :

    - Controllers: | WinWing: URSA MINOR-Fighter-Joystick R | Thrustmaster TCA AIRBUS EDITION: 1x Joystick, 2x Quadrant, 2x Quadrant Add-On | Pro-Flight-Trainer: PUMA X | Logitech: Joystick G Extreme 3D Pro | Steelseries: Nimbus+

  • Unfortunately I can't make all airports as high quality as the airports that you mentioned. But so far I already made around 40ish small glider airports that weren't on the map before and also improved existing ones by adding custom winch launch positions. And yes, or course you can use the winch everywhere else where the runway is longer than about 600m, not just the handful of airports I added.

Can you please send me the code lines for the winch start so that I can integrate it into the many winch start airfields I have created. Since I'm working my way from north to south in Germany, we'll have to meet somewhere in the middle.:)

I base myself on the maps of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherungs GmbH such as for EDBP Pinnow Glider Field:

  • I tried again with a new idea at EDXE Rheine-Eschendorf:

    • I managed to extract the buildings Dionysius Church, Herz-Jesu Church, Jacobi Church, Johannes Church, Marien Church and Cathedral as well as the mill in the city of Rheine as POIs.:)
I have temporarily "parked" the result here for testing purposes:

    • Unfortunately, I was not able to extract the objects on the airfield as POIs.X(
