Aerofly RC8 on Mac tries to Launch with The Thumb + B17, but crashes

  • My RC8 on Mac is in a loop on Launch where it tries to Launch with The Thumb + B-17 Bomber, but then crashes with sliding the screen to the right back to Desktop. I usually had Airwolf or Mustang here.

It won't launch. Was working until recently.

Are there any Preferences I can dump to reset, or is there a way to get it go just go to default selection etc.?

RC7 launches but it's old OpenGL graphics compared to modern Metal on RC8

(Mojave 10.14 on MacPro 5.1, with RX 580, 80gb Ram, SSD Drives. I have Ikarus RC Flight Controller on USB).

  • Code
    Macintosh HD⁩/Users⁩/…/Library⁩/Containers⁩/com.aerofly.aerofly-fs-4-mac/⁨Data⁩/⁨Library/Application Support⁩/Aerofly FS 4/

Please check if a similar path exists for your Aerofly RC 8 and if so you can rename the main.mcf and base.mcf files or move them out of the folder so that Aerofly RC creates new ones for the next launch.

  • Looks like those two files are within AEROFLY RC-8 on the Mac within this Mac folder hierarchy:

    Users > Name > Library > Containers > com.aerofly.aerofly-rc-8 > Data > Library > Application Support > aerofly RC 8 > config > base.mcf
    and
    Users > Name > Library > Containers > com.aerofly.aerofly-rc-8 > Data > Library > Application Support > aerofly RC 8 > config > main.mcf

  • On deleting the above two files, now it launches with dark screen and spinning clock:

    ...Loading Bennett Field
    then
    ...Loading PT-40

Then it crashes again and slides the screen back to the desktop.

So same thing, but different starting map + plane.

I then tried deleting every thing in the > config folder to let it try that, but no joy yet?

Any other ideas come to mind?

  • Machine isn't a PC, so not Vulkan, it's using Metal.... on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 on MacPro 5.1, with Apple-recommended Sapphire Pulse, Radeon RX 580 8Gb, 80gb Ram, SSD Drives. I have Ikarus RC Flight Controller on USB).

Neither Aerofly RC-8.11, MAC OS 10.14.6 or anything has changed since it was installed a few years ago.

NO updates are available for anything. Mac doesn't update graphic drivers like a PC, or like in the Intel days. All Apple-supplied (fully Metal compatible) for Radeon RX 580 8Gb, the last of the AMD drivers before they've gone Apple Silicon.

Again, it all worked great until recently.
