Has anyone seen a blimp in FS4? I can just imagine one swanning around NYC with a big advertisement for Aerofly on it's side.

It would be really cool to have an airship on the aerofly FS 4/global, I don't know, on the Hindenburg or the Goodyear GZ-20 or even the Airlander 10, which is still in the certification process and should be authorized to carry out commercial flights in 2026

One of our devs made a static scenery object blimp a long time ago just for himself. Not sure if that still works for Aerofly FS 4...
-
I remember spotting a blimp somewhere - it wasn't near Lakehurst, I think it was in the Boston scenery by TriSoft Sim
-
Ahhh you are right. I must reload Boston into my AFS2 and have another look. Pity it was not AFS4 compatible.
-
I am happy to help lift the blimp from the FS 2 version to the FS4 version. Unfortunately, I don't have the Boston edition of TrimSoftSim. If someone provides me with the object data of the blimp and the associated TSC file, I will be happy to customise it.

Hello Michael - I have the original zip file, it was a payware release on simmarket. There is a review of the software on flight-sim.org, but nothing else. I explored the zip, but I could not find any reference to blimp, airship, or goodyear. I will have another look tomorrow. There was a readme with a support link for email, but now I can't find it. Time for bed, I think.

Thank you for your kind offer. I think I have found a way for those who have purchased the software (or are still purchasing it?) to be able to use the airship and perhaps more of the FS 2 software in FS 4.
Tschüss, Michael
So, for everyone who has this software...... I have a solution to make the Goodyear Zeppelin fly in FS 4:(1) Download the attached file, unzip it and paste it into the "airports" directory in the FS 4 user folder:.../Aerofly FS 4/scenery/airports/us/bosten_addon_goodyearblimp_animated
(2) The blue files from the ZIP file below ...... are empty placeholders that must now be replaced by copying the original files from "TRISOFTSIM - AEROFLY FS2 - BOSTON" from the folderus_boston_ma_v1.1/places/animation.
Good luck. -
Wow this is great! I know what I will be doing this afternoon.
Thank you.

I realized when I tried it that I do not have the sim market 1.1 version and therefore the files were not named the same as your example. (I found a couple of blimp files in the pois1 sub directory). I think mine must be the 1.0 or freeware version that preceded the commercial release. However it still works fine in my FS2 install so thanks again for pointing out where I had seen it before. I also love the Pride of America ship that is there. I have been on that vessel a couple of times around Hawaii.

I went to Sim-market, logged in, and asked for a download, hoping to get the update to v1.1 but I finished up with the one I had already bought

In the subdirectory "pois1" there are these two blimp files, but they have nothing to do with the flying Goodyear-Blimp:
The affected files are located in version 1.1 here:

Good luck.FS 4 can now display animated objects as POI. Because this is better than using dummy AIRPORTS, I have adapted the file accordingly.

Anyone who has the software

can let the Goodyear Zeppelin do its rounds in FS 4:(1) Download the attached file, unzip it and paste it into the "poi" (!) folder in your FS 4 user folder:

Thank you for your heads up Michael. I have tried this without success as some of those files in my AFS2 instal do not exist. My purchased copy is v1.0, so where is the vendor update to v 1.1 please? Does trisoftsim have a website or any update procedure. I am loathe to buy it again to find it is the same as my original purchase.

Pretty sure we have the animated Goodyear Blimp within the Hawaiian Islands: Oahu scenery

Ultimately, it doesn't matter which version you have, as long as you have these 5 files somewhere on your computer. I'm just not allowed to publish them for copyright reasons.
The TSL file is a pure text file and can therefore be customized if necessary.
