LEAP-1B motoring

  • Hello.

The 7M9 in game’s real nice, but the motoring sequence is inaccurate.

IRL N2 should be constant when motoring (it could increase initially, but should stabilize very quickly. Even so, the N2 acceleration in sim during motoring is too high)

currently it looks like a CFM56 start just with a MOTORING label slapped slapped onto it.

An example of the sequence in real life could be:

    1. Ground start selected, bleed air starts to increase N2

    2. N2 increase (at the current rate in sim)

    3. EICAS display MOTORING while N2 starts to stabilize

    4. N2 stabilizes at around 21-23% as engine motors

    5. Motoring complete, N2 accelerate to 25%+

It would also be cool if the motoring time can be randomized.

    Thanks

    Thanks

  • The motoring time depends on the temperature and time passed since the last run. In the cold and dark setting the engine is cold enough for a quick start up. But if you shut down the engine after a flight and then turn it back on after several minutes the motoring time should already be longer if I implemented it correctly.

Right now the motoring may not be 100% accurate but based on audio recordings you can tell that the N2 isn't really steady for a while. It's like a constant bleed pressure or flow rate is provided to the starter which then causes the N2 to eventually stabilize at some value but it's more of an asymptotic function. Right now the motoring time from cold and dark is a bit to short to actually reach that state.
