3rd party airport addons messed up after update

  • hello everyone,

after latest update for AFS4 all 3rd party addon airports are messed up - runways, taxiways and all ground textures are missing. everything else like buildings, planes and stuff is placed as before. What happened?

  • I found something but I am not into this, so you can check

I didn´t changed anything before update, so I don´t understand why it cannot find files... Here you have tmlog file so you can see full file.

  • Jet-Pack (IPACS)

I just downloaded the current BETA Aerofly FS 4 version 4.06.01.01 (20241031) via STEAM, there is actually a height problem.:)

    Configurations:

    - MacBook Pro (16", 2024); Chip: Apple M4 Max; actual macOS
    - Controllers: | WinWing: URSA MINOR-Fighter-Joystick R | Thrustmaster TCA AIRBUS EDITION: 1x Joystick, 2x Quadrant, 2x Quadrant Add-On | Pro-Flight-Trainer: PUMA X | Logitech: Joystick G Extreme 3D Pro | Steelseries: Nimbus+

    - iPad (12,9", 4th Generation, RAM: 6 GB); actual iOS | Steelseries: Nimbus+

  • The example of PHOG in a user version for the FS 4 version shows:
    - the 3rd party objects are at level "0"
    - however, the level "0" is like a glass pane, because the FS 4 surface with the IMAGES is clearly below as in a trough

  • Question to IPACS:

Can it be that the cause lies in changed textures for the surfaces? At least that's what the ERROR messages let me suspect:

  • Good Morning,

I have a complex example for You:

    • HONG KONG KAI TAK INTL

The advantages of this airfield are:

    • It is not included in FS 4.
    • The facilities are very extensive.

  • Thank you for reporting. We have two options here: Provide the old naming scheme for textures or recompiling the airports using our new content converter. If you could send us an existing ( non working ) airport that would be appreciated to evaluate whats best.

    My opinion:

    • In the long term, I think the recompilation of the airfields makes more sense.
    • In the short and medium term, however, we need a transitional solution to be able to convert the FS 4 airfields published in Flight-sim.org.

This year we will succeed in converting the extensive FS 2 scenery Hawaii and Florida to the FS 4, which is essentially done by "moving the PLACES in POI". Here it is a hindrance that the orientations have been omitted. In my opinion, we should avoid that the surface textures are now the next obstacle to using 3rd-party airports.

In the AirportCreationTool (ACT) there are currently 2136 airfields, of which alone by two PowerUsers 1176 resp. 530. In flight-Sim.org several hundred of them are published. This must work in parallel at least for a transitional period of, for example, 2 years.

Where we are right now with changes:
    - For the positions you use Longitude Latitude, but Latitude is common.
In general, it would be much easier to construct new scenery if you didn't have to constantly exchange the data. This, too, could now be cleaned up. This would be feasible from my point of view relatively simple, by entering the coordinate system as before, in addition now also the two sequences:

    • <[string8u] [coordinate_system] [lonlat]>
    • <[string8u] [coordinate_system] [latlon]>
    • <[string8u] [coordinate_system] [mercator]>

  • I also confirm that now with the update FS 4 version 4.06.01.01 (20241031) everything works as usual again.

    Thank you.

  • Question to IPACS:
You have solved the problem with the additional folder:
    - ".../Aerofly FS 4 Flight Simulator/scenery/textures_shared/ground_deprecated_legacy"

Regardless, will the AirportCreationTool now get the new textures?
