So I'm all new to this FS4 thing and I haven't posted yet on this forum so here goes. How come the SIM doesn't remember my last airport I landed @ (it keeps defaulting to London and picks the UH60 as my starting aircraft), and the global scenery doesn't turn on...I go click it and say Yes and when the SIM comes back up it still says it's disabled...? It all changed after the release of the A319...? Everything is working fine except those 2 things. I even did a file verification with steam and it says all files are verified. Confused !
Position/global scenery

The default aircraft is the C172 and the default location is San Jose. So right now it keeps using your last user selected aircraft and location apparently. How do you close the sim, do you use the main menu exit button or do you just press Alt+F4 or the windows application exit button in the top right (red x). Can you adjust the conditions or graphics settings like normal, too and do they persist into the next session?
-
I close the SIM like normal, hit "ESC" to get to the main menu, then hit "exit" then "yes" to close the Sim. All the Sim's settings (personal settings) are holding. It's just those two elements that are not working (last airport/aircraft, and global scenery). It's working fine otherwise.
-
I can get global scenery to turn by going into "flights", "get global flights", then click "on" for "global scenery access". Is there a setting to get the Sim to remember my last aircraft or last airport so I can continue where I left off from my last flight..?

By default this should be the case. When you have flown an aircraft and return to the main menu the position and selected aircraft are saved to the main config file located in the user documents directory. That file is also saved when you change settings for example.
-
But its not doing that regardless of what airport I finnish at or my last aircraft. Its setting itself to the blackhawk and Heathrow every time I start the Sim. It didnt do this before the A319 was released....

You config files are probably not saved properly. Can you post the contents of the tm.log file here? It's located in Documents/Aerofly FS 4
Please also tell us if you use any cloud services for your Documents folder or not.

Here's the "tm" file !

For testing purposes, can you please delete the folder 'Documents/Aerofly FS 4'? There are issues when loading the UH60, it seems like some files are broken or missing. Maybe you need to uninstall the simulator and then do a full reinstall. But first try to delete the user folder above.

Yikes, im afraid to do that. Because its workin fine other than that one issue. I can live with it defaultin to the blackhawk and london city airport. I did a reinstall once on my PC and none of my personal settings and graphics, graphics quality settins would stay where I set them. I installed it instead on my gramps PC (this one) and its workin and is usable. I dont want to chance it and have it not working again Its my gramps steam account i downloaded from. Its not broke per se, so i dont want to ruin a good thing. 🤞 Too bad you couldnt give me a patch to install that would fix it...that would be really helpful....?

So I tried to verify (validate) the files and i got the "0 files to validate and will be reaquired". So how will they be reaquired...?
Update: Seems to be validating now thru Steam. Im gonna assume the files will be reaquired...

The issue is likely with the settings file which is saved in your Windows user documents directory in the Aerofly FS 4 folder. Steam does not touch this folder even if you uninstall the program, reinstall it or when you perform the file integrity check. Steam affects the game content files and executable but not the user settings.
Please check if moving or renaming the Aerofly FS 4 folder in your user directory solves your issues. When you launch Aerofly FS 4 again it will then create a brand new settings folder and reset everything back to default.
If you keep a backup of the folder and the gc-map file you can restore your game controller and joystick settings later and it should also be possible to restore screenshots, flight logs and achievement later on. But for now please test it with the new user settings folder first. Just rename the old one or move it somewhere else.

So what your saying is to move the FS4 folder out of My Documents off the C: drive to the folder on the D: drive (In this case my STEAM folder) that has FS4 installed correct...? I wanna make sure I get this right.
-
Nope didnt work. Really screwed it up. See i was afraid of this. Not one setting stays where I set it. I cant use it again, Dammit ! I shouldnt of touched it. Cripes ! *sigh*

Ok, then some external application is probably preventing Aerofly FS 4 from writing in your C documents folder. Please check if your anti virus software might cause this issue or if you have a cloud service enabled like Windows OneDrive and add the necessary exceptions there.
You can still move or copy your folder back to the C documents directory where it was located originally to get back to the previous state with the previous settings.

Hi Blake, it seems that this is happening because of your pc configuration and software you use. Can you confirm please if you use some cloud service backup of your files like Onedrive, Dropbox or other, and if you have an antivirus in your PC?
-
No drop box, one drive (have em shut off) or anything preventing it from installing (Microsoft defender antivirus). You see I don't install to the C: drive because I don't have enough space so I always install (Steam, FS4) to the D: drive only. It's worked before like I was saying in my post above. I just don't get it, my gramps had the same issue and he gave up. I'm using his PC and having the same issue. At this point it's beyond me how to fix this. I just finished a fresh FS4 install over night (God Steam is so slow), my download speeds are 300+ bits per sec. Same issues, anything I set doesn't stay (graphics, personal settings, Sim settings etc.) Is it because I'm not installing on the C: drive...?
What If: I install Steam to the C: drive and FS4 to the D: drive....?
Update: I'm trying my idea to see what happens.
-
Reinstall didn't work, library repair didn't work either. Next I'm gonna try a Win10 reset (everything important is on thumb drive) so no lose of personal stuff in my PC. Then do another reinstall of FS4 and see if that works. I'll be back with my results tomorrow. *sigh* Grr

Like I said, Steam cannot change your user settings and reinstalling might be a waste of time. The game itself is running fine and all content is there. So uninstalling and installing it again won't change anything. It also should not matter if you install Aerofly FS 4 on your C drive or D drive, your user documents folder is on C and that's probably where the issue lies. But Steam doesn't know about that folder.
It's most likely an issue with your Windows user profile and the read/write permissions in your user dcuments directory. We are not sure what causes this.
Instead of doing a full Windows reset please try something else first: Add a second user profile to your computer, then switch to that user profile and launch Steam from there. As far as I know you should still be able to launch the Aerofly FS 4 that is already installed from there but you get a brand new documents folder with new permissions.

Well Mr. Jan it worked creating another user profile. I would have never thought of that. I guess my Gramps user profile was corrupt or something. FS4 is working perfectly with no settings issues. Thank You Jan, Jugac64, and admin for you patience and assistance helping me. I can't thank you's enough. Take care all, be safe and happy flying.
