The art of building app icons is somewhat more complicated than a first look might reveal. Keep in mind that this icon has to work in different resolutions and contexts.
A look into the Android icon guide and iOS icon guide may help, as well as the Windows app icons guide.
(It took me quite some time to build the rather simple icons for the Wettergerät and Missionsgerät to look ok on all operating systems they were supposed to run on.)

Shouldn't the icon off the app be a plane that you don't have to buy?

Maybe instead if an aircraft they could have a logo.

Also I hate to say this but the Learjet icon isn’t the best,for example imagine a stale piece of bread no one wants to eat it right? Same thing with Aerofly app icon when people have seen the same icon for Years.people start to loose interest,in other words hopefully it can be changed. Best wishes to IPACS!

For those on iOS, or those impatient, you could just use the Shortcuts app to change the icon yourself by adding in a custom app icon? I've done that for a bunch of apps that don't support the new iOS 18 dark theme icon and tbh it will do the job perfectly.
