Descent into hell at JFK?

  • Why a sudden drop in FPS when arriving at the terminal?

Front camera view, about 130-140 FPS, and view from the left side of the aircraft, suddenly a drop from 8 to 13 FPS

    Latest driver installed GForce 572.16
Even when going back to an earlier version 566.36, I see the same problem. So, I don't think it's the card.

This is the first airport where I see such a drop.

Has anyone encountered this same problem there?

  • My FS2 frame rates dropped after I added lots of Swiss cultivation, I am wary of any non-IPACS ‘official data’ that might have a similar effect on my currently very pleasing FS4 running on what to me is a perfectly sensible but not ultra up to date PC.
The scenery and livery mods do look great.

  • Are there any errors in the tm.log file?

Thanks Jet-Pack, indeed I noticed a lot of errors in the ''tm.log'' especially with third-party scenes, first, I disabled all POIs, Airports and images from third parties, and cleared the cache. The FPS increase was increased to 35 but still remains below. New York is very dense and requires more resources, even when flying over certain areas of the city, we feel it.

However, I installed the latest driver, 572.42 dated 02/13 and seems to have solved part of the problem even by reactivating all the addons but still remains below compared to some other cities like LA with a frame rate of 140 FPS.

My card is an RTX3070Ti - 8Gb maybe aging and is starting to be limited in some places in ultra.:(

Just by the way and outside the actual thread:

You are welcome to send me the error list of third-party scenes, maybe some errors can be fixed.:)

I do not see any strange fps loss at JFK (all settings to maximum) an my RTX 4060 Ti is not very far from your RTX 3070 Ti : "The truth is out there" ...

  • Surprisingly on all the airports of this SIM, for my part it has only happened with two scenes so far, New York and Tokyo-Haneda?
And for that, there is no question of going below ULTRA

Which leaves me thinking that I'll have to prepare for version 5000 to be up to date. :)

  • Thanks Michael, I'll send a PM in the next few days. :)

Thank you very much for your list - and so that everyone has something from it, I write my answer here::)

    (1) ELEVATION - "invalid filename ... maph_nn_nxnx_nxnx_mask.tth":

I also noticed this error when switching from FS 2 to FS 4. It seems that FS 4 cannot read "_mask" files in the elevation folder.

My remedy is that in FS 4, with very few exceptions, I have generally disabled the elevation folders of third parties ("elevation___OFF"), whereby I block all "..._mask.tth" files.

    (2) AIRPORTS - "no valid identifier for":

With the affected airfields, I will see that I adjust the identifier FS 4-compliant.
