Set the ND mode to PLAN and decrease the range to the ZOOM position. Move the app by dragging it. If a runway is not already selected for landing in cyan then click on the runway identifier at the beginning of the runway and in the context menu select the runway for landing. Then move the map and select a position after the WET stop bar, just click next to the runway or at the position on the runway for now and then in the context menu select set BTV EXIT. Lastly press the A/BRK pushbutton to arm BTV.

Switch the ND mode to plan then select the runway in the fms zoom in till you see the runway press a point on the runway where you want to exit it wok give you a list of options one of them is "btv exit" select that after that it is armed and then you turn the auto brakes on and btv should appear on your pfd

just don't understand this brake to vacate feature on my phone. What do I have to do after touchdown? Do I just have to activate reverse thrust in the cockpit without changing anything on the throttle on the left side of the screen? Or do I have to set the throttle on the left side of the screen to a specific value?

I'm new to commercial flying so... what do you mean "set a throttle"

I now know how it works—at least, it worked on the A350. Now I'm trying it on the A380. But I'm confident it will work, too.

Brake to vacate automatically calculates the distance and how hard the plane needs to brake to exit at a chosen runway exit so all u have to do is arm it and when landing use reverse thrust the btv feature is basically just an enhanced auto brake normally on Airbus you have auto brake low medium and max but the btv works differently like I just explained

Yes, use reverse thrust up to a maximum of 30%, and you'll come to a stop exactly at the set point. Works great on the A350/A380 👍

It works like this: You define where you want to be at taxi speeds and BTV delays the activation of the autobrake to give you a nice 0.2g deceleration until you almost come to a stop just before your planned exit. If it has to activate right away after touchdown to be able to "stop" in time it can ramp that up to 0.3g or 0.35g even.

If you instead use A/BRK medium by disarming the autobrake and arming it again the aircraft will activate the autobrake 5 seconds after touchdown or when the nose wheel is on ground, which ever comes first, and then uses a constant 0.3g.

So as you can see, BTV is basically just a delayed application of the autobrake to vacate the runway as quickly as possible at the desired taxiway. This means keeping the speed high until it becomes necessary to slow down just in time.

Adding reverse thrust just reduces the brake wear and can delay BTV activation.

    Jan
