Aerofly FS4 UDP Flight Data recorder and Replay - Rewinger

  • Oh, Armitage you are right, the curves must be very difficult to draw.

SageMage I downloaded the new version from Github and tried it, the interfase is looking better. I tried to record the data using arm and manual recording, but my data is empty. If you don't know why this happens, I will check it with Claude.

I loved the "Follow Aircraft" feature, I didn't knew how to do it. Your version is much better now! I hope you continue improving it. Thank you!

Hi Jugac64 , can you send me zip with the files it generated?

Additionally, would you be so kind to check if the code generated a folder called /output_recorder/ and check inside there? I may have reverted certain strategies in the code.

If that’s the code path I think, in the new version, the code always tries to append to output_GPS_data.csv so between flights check and rename the file. I am still trying to come up with an intelligent way to handle the use case of repeated flights one after the other, as I would need to detect that the GPS data is static for x time…

Yeah probably I should cut the recorder and start a new one when there’s a significant change in the position!

But that would be a problem if you pause in flight…

    Any suggestions?

  • Oh! I forgot to download it, please don’t delete it.

Can I build an EXE for Windows for your app? I can pass it to you to upload it in the app page.

You added very nice features to it! Thank you.

Oh snap I removed it from the flight-sim page as there were already some downloads and didn’t wanted to confuse the user (s). I will reupload it tomorrow no worries!

  • Hello,

Thanks again for sharing your script — it’s a great addition to Aircraft Tracker, and I really appreciate the new KML support!I’ve tried it out with a SimBrief .kml export, and the route displays nicely on the map.

One small thing I noticed: the individual waypoints (from the <Placemark> elements) don’t seem to appear with labels on the map — only the full route line is shown.I was wondering if it might be possible in the future to display each waypoint as a labeled marker? The .kml does include the <name> and <coordinates> for each point, so maybe this could help for route visualization or briefing. No pressure of course — it already works very nicely as it is. Just thought I’d share the idea in case it’s easy to add.

    Hello Jugac64 ,
I sent you an invite on GitHub to a separate private repository. You should find a .zip file containing the .app file.
This way, we can keep it clean and collaborate on other ideas!
    Best regards,

  • By the way: the next feature for the Missionsgerät will be KML export. This will also incorporate the nice fly-by and fly-over logic for waypoints, as well as proper symbols for waypoints using standard icons provided by Google Maps.

So theoretically any missions from the Missionsgerät could generate the KMLs to be used with Rewinger.

Oh wow that is awesome! I’m sure that will be greatly appreciated by the users.

I’m really happy that the community is collaborating with each other in such an open and collaborative manner!

  • Adding KML exports will be great. No, not just great, it will be awesome!

I currently use a rather convoluted method of getting KML tracks of my flights documented in Google Earth.

Overall, your flight planning tool and tutorial information are incredible. I have several decades of experience using all of the major simulators, and your level of contributing to the sim community is uncommon, and appreciated.

    Thank you!

So here you are: the Missionsgerät does KML export in expert mode:

The Aerofly Missionsgerät converts simulator flight plan files for Aerofly FS 4, Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, GeoFS, and Garmin / Infinite Flight…

(As usual I fell down a rabbit hole, and couldn't stop before adding icons for the different types of waypoints, 3d altitude information, bubble helps for frequency information on VORs / NDBs where supplied, and some camera positions for flight path animations... which will be utterly pointless in most situations, but here you go.)

Wow, thank you for the praise. Actually I started because the I wanted to add some stuff available to bigger simulators before discovering the great custom mission files with their ability for story telling and mission generation.

There are more cool guys and gals building sceneries and aircraft, liveries and other tools. Let's keep our fingers crossed for more ways for community developers to build cool stuff for our beloved sim.

  • The KML export works great!

I'm interested in creating flight plans for "the other people" - those of us who fly low and slow.

All of the major simulators focus on airliners and long-distance flying. Local and regional stuff, not so much. I would love to see ultralight aircraft models, such as a Quicksilver, Breezy, or a trike.

Now for a question that may be ridiculous, but I'm truly baffled. I do not see a Missions menu item in FS4. On my main menu there is a Challenges item, but there is no Missions item. I've drilled down into every menu and somehow am not finding Missions.

    I have Version 4.07.01.02.

If anyone has a suggestion I would love to hear it.

  • I found a post from Jan that missions are actually challenges.

The challenges in FS4 match the flights described in custom_missions.tmc, but the flight described in custom_missions_user.tmc is not displayed.

I made a small (and outdated) manual available here:

    custom_missions_user.tmc installation instructions
The Aerofly Missionsgerät converts simulator flight plan files for Aerofly FS 4 (main.mcf and tmc), Microsoft Flight Simulator (pln), X-Plane (fms), GeoFS (…

On which operation system are you using AFS4. I only documented Windows 10/11, but I believe other OS' will have a similar user folder which should contain the main.mcf as well as the mission folder you need to put the missions file in.

Maybe someone else with the same OS as yours can enlighten us?
