A350 reduces thrust immediately after liftoff?

  • Something I've noticed sometimes when flying the A350. Right after the A350 lifts off the runway during takeoff, the engine seems to reduce sound. Thrust power remains at the same level, but the sound reduces automatically. Is this supposed to happen?

Per default in Aerofly FS the thrust reduction height is 1500ft in the A350/A380 and 1000ft in the A319/A320/A321. In the real world the airline can set the default value. If you have a route planned then it uses the departure field elevation plus that 1500ft for the barometric thrust reduction altitude. So if you do not takeoff from the airport planned in your route then the FMS still uses that altitude which might be lower than what you expect.

But given that the thrust reduction is performed manually you are in full control and can the actual delay thrust reduction. Unless you use the copilot for takeoff.

So long story short: if you fly the takeoff manually then just keep the thrust high until you see 1500ft above ground or in the FMS program in the correct airport. If you use the copilot then make sure to takeoff from the airport planned in the navigation menu or delete the route of you are not actually using it.
