Adding a fix on a departure plate

  • Hello everyone,

I'm trying to add GILFN from the Icons5 KCLT departure but i dont see it listed when doing a search is it possible to add the point on the flight plan via coordinates and if so what is the procedure; I can see by clicking on the map that these points have a coordinate system referencing degrees for N & W but what I need understand is how to convert that number from polar coordinates to decimal degrees.

    Thank-you.

  • GILFIN’s exact coordinates are not readily available in an internet search.

Look it up on SkyVector.com. Find it on the low altitude enroute chart. Select the fix and read the approximate centred lat and long. GILFIN is at N34 degrees and 47.76 minutes and W80 degrees and 58.02 minutes.
To plot it on the Aerofly nav page convert the position to degrees and decimals of a degree. 47.76/60 is 0.796. 58.02/60 is 0.967.

Plot N 34.796 W80.967 on Aerofly. An easier alternative would be to simply copy the chart position in SkyVector onto the Aerofly nav page, it would easily be accurate enough.

The airway T437/V37 follows broadly the same route as the DEPARTURE which leads to about 10 nm north of the CAE VOR. Its waypoints seem to be in the Aerofly database so it might be much easier to follow. See ZAKUR is very close to the plotted position of GILFIN. The airway’s later BLOTS and GREAT fixes also appear further south in the Aerofly page.

  • Thank-you and this is what I love about this forum there is always someone that has an answer; this helps me out tremendously. Yesterday was my work from home day; so I hopped in the 777F (pretended it had passenger windows) and hopped on down to Miami while I was working :P; I felt I could fly the airliner as well as provide technical support for my company; I appreciate your help.

    Have a super weekend!

    John

  • Sorry, for replying to this thread but I was not able to find the suitable thread for this issue.. This issue is for the latest Aerofly FS 4.

Actually, I think it has been reported earlier that in A32X series when we turn off FD-1, in the FMA it shows FD-2 is turned off and same goes when we turn off for FD-2. Kindly, have a look at it and please publish a fix for it.

Also, the weird very huge size Oval Building in the North-East of VABB Airport is still not fixed yet. Kindly, have a look to it also.

Here, is the FD issue in the A32X Series:

Below Image shows the weird building glitch in 3 NM N-E of VABB
