ILS doesn't seem to work in Frankfurt and Munich (EDDF and EDDM).

  • I would like to ask whether there is any work going on at the moment concerning the airports of Frankfurt and Munich.

When I tried to practice the final ILS approach in EDDF and EDDM, my plane didn't catch any ILS signals, like here in Munich (EDDM08L):

There is no localizer or glideslope marker to be seen (red rectangles).

Compared to this, my ILS approach to Stuttgart with identical settings:

The ILS markers are here clearly to be seen. I use the identical settings like in the configuration before (A320, long final approach). This happens in the PC and mobile version.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you very much in advance!

  • I just tested it with Android on EDDM/EDDF A320/319...... everything works correctly.

  • It helps to have a look at what might have been set up incorrectly before assuming that there is a fault, the pic gives some clues.

For a start you are approaching runway 08 right not 08 left. You have 08R advice in the game’s info bar and it seems 08L in a route on the sim plane’s nav display. You are about 3 miles from the 08L threshold but 1.2 miles off course over to the right.

The autopilot is following your instruction in Hdg mode.

1.2/3 gives 22 degrees off course. The ILS in the sim accurately is detected well outside its +/- 2.5 degrees guidance range so you might not have dialled in 109.50 and 83 degrees into the (whatever airbus calls the CDU). The primary flight display/artificial horizon does not show "IMNE, 109.5 (and your) DME" in the bottom left corner. Do you rely on the game’s co-pilot to tune in your nav-aids? There appear to be no VORs or NDBs tuned in.

Here is my very casual similar set up in mobile. (The green arrow’s tail in the nav display is from the (just passed) 08R locator NDB ‘MSE’ that I tuned in for my guidance to the wrong 08R).

  • Thank you very much for the good advice. Now I could find the root cause of my problem. I had an old flight plan for a flight between EDDF and EDDM stored within the system, and thus the approach settings were not correct. This explains it. My mistake. Thanks again!
