Helicopter Sling - First Results

  • Helicopter flying is a challenge in itself🤓. An even greater challenge is flying with external loads.🤓🤓 It has been my plan for a long time to fly in the FS 4 Helicopter with external load. That's why I've started to implement this idea a little more.

I started my first attempts with objects from FS 4:
    - tow rope from the tow plane as longline
    - STOP cube (that no one else likes to see) as load

After this weekend, I have two results:
    (1) My idea works.8)
    (2) Other objects are needed for both the longline and the load.:)

If you feel like it, you can try out the previous result with the EC135 and UH-60M helicopters. I attach two small ZIP files that are in the user directory in the directory "aircraft" (not "addons/aircraft"!) must be loaded.

    Note:
The STOP cube as a charge has its own life, which is particularly noticeable at the start: it first jumps around full of enthusiasm and then sinks partly just below the surface.:D

    Have fun:)

  • You dared to steal this cube from IPACS 🤣

I see it positively - looking at this cube can also be a lot of fun - and when I look at some pictures here in the forum, then this is only very rarely the case.🤣

  • For a first, a surprising result, although the top of the UH-60 has become convertible :)

  • Thank you for your praise, it encourages me to continue not only for me, but for everyone.:)

I would like to take a steel cable for the load cable, as the winch has, but that has not yet worked the way I imagine it. In my opinion, IPACS has configured both objects for their previous purposes so that it is as realistic as possible.

The same applies to the load. At the moment I use the STOP-Cube, but it also behaves differently than a typical load, because it is very homogeneous.

When transporting loads, I would like to be able to work with different longline lengths (keywords: Heslo 1 and Heslo 2) and also to be able to unhook and attach the loads - both only the load and rope with load.

And I'm already thinking about the winch.

What I also miss is the load hook as an object under the helicopter. I haven't done anything about designing objects yet, let's see how this can be realised.

  • From my experiences with the update of the F18 as a carrier version and the pushback tractor as a solo vehicle, I know that the optical and the technical are independent of each other.

Therefore, it is in any case my goal to technically simulate the attachment and de-hanging of loads, just as well as the re-out and retracting of the winch. For this I also take a close look at how this is simulated with the pushback tractor, the tow winch and the tow plane.

In addition, it is of course also my goal that everything looks good. So if I can "borrow" an object somewhere, I will do so (taking into account the copyright rights).:)

  • Nice work, gave it a try today! It seems the rope is quite elastic, which causes it to stretch quite a lot when load weight grows. So rope would need slightly more stiffness (higher diameter helps). Maybe there are some additional attributes for the rope.

There is quite little info on the sling loads, and one reason is that Loft Dynamics base their heslo solution on the Aerofly FS engine.
