I was wondering if anyone has done anything about making the naval objects in San Diego. It might be me, but the Aircraft Carrier museum looks like a white paper carrier shaped cut-out, there are no modern Carriers at North Island at all and well ...... I think it is just begging for some kind soul to make it look nicer. Please ... Please you clever ex naval types. :)

We can also use the objects available from the FS 2 in FS 4 - but unfortunately not to change their orientation. Therefore, I can not integrate my ships from the FS 2 for Hawaii and San Diego accordingly in the FS 4.

But it just occurs to me that the INTREPID from New York could fit in San Diego in terms of orientation, I'll try it out later.

Unfortunately it does not fit, 30° deviation in the longitudinal axis is simply too much, that looks like nothing.:(

I'm no expert etc.. just dreaming: It would be wonderful to place objects, like DCS AFAIK, so to create personalised sceneries... and share them...

Do you know Flight-sim.org? Here you can already find a lot of user-created landscapes:

Interestingly the Android FS4 version has a recognisable 2D carrier in San Diego but the PC version just has this white paper cutout like shape. I would have thought the versions would have been identical. Maybe it is my internet or something.

    Hi,

I have here the high polygon USS Midway, which should be the museum ship according to the model description.

But still 3 things to clarify:
    - The model does not fit the ground image, it has a different flight deck. Shall we use another carrier?
    - Touching the flight deck crashes the flight, we need to make it possible to land on it.
    - Water base image has to be changed

What do you think? Is it worth to go on?

I find it unproblematic if it doesn't fit exactly.

I didn't like the Hawaii project that the aircraft carrier should be operational in the port of Pearl Harbor. At least the take-off and landing of aircraft on ships should only take place at sea. But I can make good friends with helicopter operation in the port.

Do you actually have the data to recreate the navy ships in Pearl Habor? Whereby they do not really have to be recreated, but "only" as objects in the respective orientations. I can find the orientations for you.

I'll check to find some Hawaii data. But I'm not sure whether the ships were done by another team member...

The model is the post-WWII version before the installation of the angled flight deck. That’s why you find it mismatches with the satellite image.

Marco, since you enjoy coloring, perhaps you could remaster this version! What do you think? ^^

    Ok guys, let's go on:

the white carrier from above is unusable for us. No textures and more a kind of lego model:

So I will currently stay with the old USS Midway version, which looks really nice.

I can temporarily cover the ground image with an artificial sea surface, see the ongoing work here:

Schnuffelduffel, you are invited to visit me in Tuebingen, Bier waits for you. ;)

The Arleigh Burke destroyer is a nightmare, after conversion it contains a whole bunch of flipped faces. Either hard work to correct this or find another navy ship.

I will add some cars and objects in between the ships to make the scenery more vivid.

    Happy to talk to you
