How to engage descent with Airbus autopilot on IPad

    Hi all,

    I'm getting more and more familiar with autopilot and I'm flying quite in a realistic mode, managing the take-off and landing runways with the weather...

    Whatever I'm still struggling to launch my descend especially with Airbus.

    When I changed the altitude nothing happen which seems to be normal as I'm supposed to push (or pull) the altitude button.

    But as I'm playing on an IPad I can only turn the button but not push/pull it.

    Am I right ? Miss I something ?

    So correct me if I'm wrong, when you're about to hit T/D ( Top of Descent ) you arm the altitude mode by turning the knob to your desired FL and only once you reach T/D, you press the knob. Just depends on how you programmed the MCDU.

    to press or pull on ipad, I believe you hold on to the big circle and either swipe up or down.

    To push the knob you have to drag the green disk in the center upwards. If you pull the center down it's a pull gesture.

    Pushing the altitude knob in activates the managed descent on the Airbus (which may actually maintain altitude at times, to comply with altitude constraints along the route) and pulling it out does an open descent, which immediately goes into descent, ignoring route constraints.

    You can also initiate decent before TOD, set a lower altitude, and PUSH for managed descent. The aircraft will maintain a shallow 1000fpm descent until it rejoins the calculated descent profile

    Hi all,

    I've tried again but I'm still blocking on the PULL or PUSH function...;(

    I can turn the button (all of them ALT/SPD/HDG) but I definitly can't push or pull the button. I tried to double-tap to stay few second in touch but nothing happen. To start the desend I active the copilot few second and then active again the manual autopilot.

    Any idea ? As a reminder I'm playing with an IPad...

    If you have the green interface with the circle and the ring around it, the ring outside is what you use to rotate the knob. On the center green circle, press it with your finger and go up or down in one motion.

    Press and slide up to push, press and slide down to pull
