Same at KORD to the south west of the airport

KORD Alright, not sure if this is what you're referring to?
Not all towers are oversized, the tall one south of Chicago O'Hare was correct about a year ago.
Sorry, that was Absolute Rubbish, I mixed up the location being right and was stupidly thinking it was the height. Especially sorry Gravitational lensing (below) ![]()

I rarely fly over Chicago

Yeah
Bournemouth EGHH. Present for an awfully long time but fixed in FS4.
Later.. in OpenStreetMap the control tower is tagged as ‘Communication Tower’!
Looking closely Bournemouth has 2 towers on the single site, one is an ugly squat wooden lighthouse-like low conical castle’s tower thing.
but this unpleasantness is new, Bournemouth again.
These four types of buildings appear in exaggerated heights and numbers around the world, including near airports, vacant lots in city centers, and mountaintops. Given that the height and number of transmission towers can be modified, these buildings should similarly be adjustable in location, number, and size.
Please specify the location of these towers.
Usually it's a false data entry in open street map causing this issue.

These giant structures are located at the position of the green airplane in the image. If some green airplane coordinates are at the mountaintop, it means there may be more than one giant structure, and you might need to search nearby mountains. Additionally, the latitude and longitude are provided in the bottom right corner of the map, which can be directly entered for querying. They are very large and easy to spot.

Using the Chicago example, according to the OSM data the tower is supposed to be 1000m high. This is obviously a false entry, perhaps they wanted to enter 100m or 1000ft, who knows... Question is how can we detect this false data but keep the data that is indeed correct?

I entered the coordinate data into AI software and Google Earth for searching and refinement. The results show the tower is 149 meters tall,
This is indeed not a quick solution.
which seems close to the height indicated in the image. However, the AI data indicates that the tower was demolished in June 2025.

There's your problemn !
With a location in America perhaps the height would not normally be in Metres.
Actual true Altitude is 1251 feet, (499) height above local ground. Using SkyVector.com gave A RELIABLE AND USEFUL height. The data in Open Street Map is obviously unusable.
The Open Street Map location identified on Google Earth and on SkyVector. I should have matched the scale!
This tower has been demolished, so I think there's no need to analyze its height anymore. Perhaps now we should consider whether it should exist in the game.
The masts and towers of the world would be three times too high even if they were current builds though!
It looks like a 3,600 feet sim height above local terrain paired with a 1,200 feet real world altitude above mean sea level. Perhaps a round number coincidence?

Most data in OSM is usable though, which is why we can now have nice things like 3D cities in Aerofly FS.
But obviously we cannot manually check every single building or tower, so the odd tower or building may have incorrect data.
And no, you don't know which user follows the official documentation and which users just make mistakes and use wrong units during data entry.
Perhaps all towers and masts could be artificially limited in height (and appearance) so that a default random site no longer looks so awful. Specially selected exceptional landmark and well known examples could be manually set at reliably documented true heights and visual appearance.
Not perfect but what we have now is not really good enough. If the giant dark power line towers are recognised as intolerable perhaps attention could be directed here?

This issue just started a few weeks ago, so Aerofly just started to use new data from OSM and that's why a bunch of big tower started showing up?
