User folder not working

  • Well, I installed the Game to another faster drive, no good result for non-Beta and for Beta. If I enable Global Scenery from the main screen, the Game hangs. I have to delete the "Aerofly FS 4" folder to be able to start it again. But if I select from the Flights/Get global flights/Global scenery access ON the Game allows to select and start a flight but the Global scenery itself is not available (enabled no data). Quitting the game without switching Global scenery back to OFF prevents starting the Game.

Only scenery textures are missing, all the rest is working fine.

All the installed "official" scenery addons are not visible in the Game.

  • No clouds, no Onedrive (uninstalled to be sure), no Steam cloud

    Hi,

    The only solution:

Don't stress about these kinds of problems.

Uninstall your game from your external system, then disconnect your external HDD or SSD (it doesn't matter which), and perform a clean install on your C drive. See what happens after that.

I've never trusted external installations, especially when there are updates, which can sometimes destabilize software, games, or anything else.

I have already carried out this kind of experiment in the past.

I only use my external SSDs for storage,

nothing else. And don't even talk to me about the cloud.

  • There are no external installation at all on my side. Reinstalled several times, 2 times on drive C, the last time on drive D. Where from did you take that I use external installation? And I do not use clouds as well.

What does it mean "do not stress..." Shall I fly without ground textures? :)))

Is this a scenery I have to enjoy?:)))

  • That's not what I meant.
Since you said you installed a more powerful hard drive, I assumed you might have installed the game externally.

Sorry, I'm just trying to understand your problem.

I've never encountered a situation like yours.

Obviously, this texture speaks for itself, like a return to the Stone Age.

  • Thank you, Pascal. I have no idea what is going on. Everything was just fine 3-2 weeks ago. My system is old, but still on the level for this game. It is not only Global textures are missing, the Sim does not pick up Addon Sceneries USA High resolution and Europe 1 and 2. But picks up planes:) My ISP does not block anything, so I only have to hope on IPACS. For me it looks like something is blocking access to Aerofly folders in Documents, may be I am wrong.

Okay, so your problem still isn't solved?

Since everything seemed to be working before, I only see two solutions:

    1) First of all, make an external backup of your Aerofly Documents folder, if you previously installed any add-ons.

Then uninstall Aerofly via Steam, and try a system restore (Windows), ideally to at least a month ago, early November, or to a date when everything seemed to be working normally. Then reinstall Aerofly, but without adding any add-ons to the Documents folder, and see if the game core loads normally.

    2) If there's no change? I'm afraid you'll need to perform a clean format of your PC. It's likely that some DLLs have been unintentionally removed from your system.

I don't see any other solution, sorry.

  • I don't think a reinstall changes anything. This is probably a writing permissions issue with the user account. We're not sure what can cause this. Other users were able to fix this by creating a new Windows user profile or by excluding the user folder from OneDrive. But perhaps you can check the file permissions of the folder and all files in the Aerofly FS 4 folder in Windows, maybe that can fix it as well?

  • Apparently, as he explained, he didn't install it on OneDrive.

In any case, for me, in the past, these two solutions have worked well for me, although I've never had problems like his with Aerofly, but in other situations.

And as for OneDrive, that piece of junk from Windows, it's definitely the first thing I uninstall, including the registry key, after a reformat or when I get a new PC.

  • Of course, you can add a new username, but beware of duplicates in your system, as this isn't always the best solution.

Personally, it's not my preferred option. When problems persist, the best solution is a clean reset. To each their own.
