Mission waypoint altitudes are ignored

  • Hi,

Background: I'm using AFS4 in a workgroup at our local school. These are 13-15 year old kids who are interested in flying but have no or only a vague idea of aviation. For them, AFS4 is the ideal simulator :) AFS4 missions are a perfect way to make flight accessible to them. This applies for many of the built in custom missions as well as for missions I create for the workgroup with the Missionsgeraet.

But I can't find a way that AFS4 respects the altitude which is defined for the mission waypoints. The mission markers (green arrows or boxes) seem to follow a logic of its own. No matter what is defined in the waypoint list or in the flight altitude in the navigation menu, it never fits. It appears that AFS4 internally calculates a flight altitude without considering the terrain.

This often leads to the mission markers disappearing into the gound or going through mountains, which is unfavorable for having the kids fly the mission easily.

Is there a way to change this?

    Boris

  • Yep, that works, after one of the latest updates - I remember flying the MB339 mission with the arrows at 2000ft some time ago. Now it's low level 8)

Thanks Jan, and happy holidays :)

borisvp Out of curiosity: if the flights are exported by the Missionsgerät, do you need to adjust the altitude settings in the missions file? Or does it work out of the box?
