Hello, I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G and I'm using it to simulate Aerofly. The simulator works normally at maximum quality and 90 resolution, but every time I try to activate the lights, the simulator becomes extremely slow. I'd like to know what settings I should use to activate the lights and prevent the simulator from slowing down as I mentioned.
After the lights are turned on, the simulator slows down.

Well, might have to lower from Ultra to maybe HIGH, MEDIUM, or even LOW. Aircraft lights are KNOWN to be very demanding in this sim. Kind of surprising that even those with phones that should run Aerofly well are struggling with a relatively simple QOL enhancement (Aircraft/taxi lights) that has been made complex for realism.

Activating aircraft lights in the graphic settings causes a much higher pixel shader utilization. If the pixel shaders are already running at maximum, no other settings can compensate for this. Either get a better device or turn off the lights for smoother simulation.

Especially at night when your in a big city, it does demand a lot from your device.
I have a redmagic tablet and im on max graphics and even still in New York at night with aircraft lights, I sometimes have a few frame drops.
In the day its absolutely fine.
-
This may be a little off topic, but I just wanted to say that for some reason I get a reasonable 25-30 FPS at night with the a350, wether takeoff or landing, but I get 20 and below FPS when on descent or approach in the daytime.
-
Yeah same, the a350 is a highly detailed aircraft with high quality lighting, that can make any device heat up and have fps drops.
It can be further hindered by approaching big cities and large buildings.
I find having less clouds helps massively.

Ok, so I tried your suggestion and it worked but there seems to be an FPS glitch cause I was over the ocean in the middle of no where then I started getting 15-24 FPS, the same applies everwhere. I get 30-40 fps in some building dense areas and low FPS in barren lands and sometimes it drops instantly. For example in the 2nd image I have above 30 FPS but for some reason 10 miles later in the 3rd image I have 23 and below.
Since I was trying to see what the problem was, I tweaked my settings a little bit.
My normal settings:
Aircraft lights: on
Graphics: ultra
Limit FPS: no
Api: open Gl
Pixel density: 80%
Before the update I could get 30 FPS and upwards
Settings seen in the pictures:
Aircraft lights: on
Graphics: high
Limit FPS: no
Api: open Gl
Pixel density: 80%
After changing all those settings the low FPS remained at the same average which was 15-20 FPS.

I recommend keeping limit FPS on. With the FPS limit off your device renders as fast as it can, draining battery quicker and causing the device to heat up. The device then throttles down, i.e. slows the CPU down, which causes lower FPS.
Also close other background apps and sometimes a device restart also improves performance.

I'll try this out to see if it makes a difference.

Happy new years jet-pack,
I tried your suggestion and the FPS was over 40 FPS for majority of the flight until I got to 200nm of destination then it decreased to 23 FPS.
Edit:
I've now turned on limit FPS and the result are promising l. I have a constant 30fps while flying.
Second edit:
With limit FPS to 30, I had 30 FPS constantly then it dipped below 25 only occasionally going up to 25 or 26 then dipping to 24 and below.

I've tried every tip in this thread but the FPS continues to reduces as the flight continues. I am starting to think that this is an optimization problem or glitch because this never happened before the December update.

IPAD AIR 2022 M2 is good ??

Also happens to me, reducing graphics settings would be sacrificing the experience for a few extra frames per second. EVER SINCE versions after v01.05.01.08 I believe, I was forced to switch from HIGH to LOW graphics, not to mention the game-breaking time dilation with low FPS that easily slows your long-haul flight by HOURS. Sure, my device is not the best of all, but if it could achieve a playable FPS before even in the A350, then it must be an optimization problem. It overheats even more now even tanking my FPS even more in the most modest commercial airliners like the 747. Devs should urgently address the performance issues as a priority before working on other 'optional' features like new aircraft, and such.

Does the FPS deteriorate over time when you use other aircraft like the 747 or something much simpler like the Cessna 172?

Yh I tried it in other airliners which are FPS friendly like the 787 and a320 family and the results were the same, the FPS keeps deteriorating over time.

That definitely sounds like thermal throttling. Get a phone cooler, it will help alot in keeping your fps stable

Before the update, my phone overheated, yet I maintained over 40 fps. I had thought the same thing about a week ago, so I put my phone on an ice pack while playing, but it did nothing but cool my phone down.

Ok now I think I understand what you meant. I use to have a similar problem on my former phone back then in aerofly fs2023. It happened after an update, whereby I start a flight at 50-60fps, and within a few seconds it drops to under 10fps. What phone do you use?
-
It's only the a350 that sometimes causes my device to lag, other than that, every other aircraft runs swimmingly.

I use a galaxy a56 with 8gb of ram and 256gb of storage.
