The Europe 1 & 2 extensions, vs Streaming?

  • Hi!

I reinstalled Aefs4 to be able to test last December update, which looks huge and adding a worth of nice features.

I had initially purchased Aefs4 in a bundle together with both Europe scenery extensions, but when we run Aefs4 we can now opt for a stream-based scenery.

Question is - what's the difference?

    Q) When I now install AEFS4 from Steam, does it automatically push both Europe extensions, and streaming adds to the rest of the World the details not included in those "maps"/ "scenery areas" ?

    Main Simulation Rig:

    Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.

Lenovo TB310FU 9,5" Tablet for Navigraph and some available external FMCs or AVITABs

  • The Steam version has global scenery streaming if you enable it. This includes regions covered by the Europe DLCs. However this requires an internet connection and offline game play is limited to the regions you have already been to. The Europe DLC enables you to download a large portion of the aerial images and airports for offline usage. Please note that trees, buildings and other smaller details may or may not be included in the DLC download, so more detail may be available with streaming enabled still. But for a Europe wide offline base coverage with high resolution images near airports the Europe DLC is great.

Is the global scenery updated behind the scenes? I've been flying long-haul between Europe and the Middle East quite a bit. The resolution seems to be vastly improved around Bahrain/Doha/Saudi Arabia in the past year, looks photorealistic from cruise (on PC) I don't remember it looking that good previously.

We constantly work on the global scenery and regularly push out new airports.

Keep in mind that some airfields aren't included when you activate streaming; you absolutely must install Europe 1 and 2. I learned that the hard way.

A second method for airports not supported by streaming is to simply copy and paste them into the Documents\Airports folder, then uninstall these DLC packs without any hassle for those who want to save hard drive space.

Thx Tomfa , and I would like to give that a try, but then, if I go ahead and push both the Europe 1 & 2 DLCs, which folders inside of them will have those airports that I should then copy or move into "Documents\Airports" ?

  • After checking just now, although EDLC is present, EDGM is still missing.
