Parking positions facing the wrong way

  • oh, one thing I want to mention is, that for flight preparation, please allow to choose “cold and dark” at any point on the ground. For example in EDDV. There is this one Spawn point, and there are a lot like this at airports around the world, where you stand 180° in the wrong direction. There you can choose cold and dark. But if you turn it around manually, you cant choose this. If you turn the plane in the menu at the same spot and enter the flight. The engines are running and the MCDU is all pre set. Thats one point I would really have changed. Simply give us a point in the settings like “if airplane is on ground pre flight, always set it to cold and dark.” A better spawn point therefore to check is at KLAS. I think there is only one spawn point and it is 180° wrong direction.

  • If I may add my 2 cents on this huge problem, there is really a ton of airports that have this issue in AeroFly FS 4.

Not only are the 'spawn-points' extremely limited on basically any airport because of the unnecessary amount of static aircraft on each of the gates, (ex. EGLL, EGKK, LEMD, EHAM, VHHH, RKSI, etc) but also are these very few 'spawn-points' indeed incorrectly reversed on a lot of parking sports by at least 180º as CaptainKayce mentioned, on top of the matter that as soon as you deviate an inch, or turn the aircraft only 1 degree off the pre-established 'spawn-point', no 'Pre-Engine Start'-state nor 'Cold & Dark'-state can be selected, and the engines are then found to be started, which is very annoying for operational purposes.

I think the first issue (the reversed 'spawn-points') is indeed an issue, but the problem that cascades from this is the low amount of 'spawn-points', linked to the fact that if the pilot would want to spawn on another parking spot, (because the pilot so desires it) he would be forced to start with the engines running, and has no actual way of going back into 'Pre-Engine Start'-state nor 'Cold & Dark'-state, hence another practical solution should be implemented for this huge problem.

    Kind Regards,

Yeah, that’s why I want the ability to start cold & dark on any position, as long as the hight is set to ground. I guess that’s the easiest way to achieve an improvement here. 😊

I like the static aircraft cause they give it a bit of life in this single player world, but yeah, I would also prefer more spawn points, e.g. like Infinite flight has almost every gate or parking position available to spawn. I really don’t understand why the scenery development has chosen this less spawn points, especially in famous airports like Las Vegas.

  • I have already programmed more than a thousand airfields of all kinds for FS 4 and therefore know "the problem" from the point of view of airport creation and airport use.

    (1) For the elimination of the already existing positions with misorientation, it makes the most sense to give the programmers as concrete information as possible, so that they do not have to search:
    - airport
    - parking position
    - faulty positioning
    - correct positioning

    (2) I think it makes sense to show the possible free positions at airfields. I often program relatively many static aircraft at airports (partly at more than half of the parking positions) so that the airport does not look so empty. If a user then wants to start several times on the already occupied parking positions, it crashes and creates frustration. It is therefore optimal if the user can recognize all free positions.

    (3) Regardless of (1) and (2), I also consider it desirable if the user can choose in which condition the aircraft should be when positioning an aircraft on the ground(cold&dark - bevor engine start - ready for taxi).

  • I also want to add the fact that, if the static aircraft would make sense according to their proper destination, leaving enough parking spots at the main terminals, i would not be against them. There are however two things to consider here:

    - Low quality of the textures compared to the aircract that AeroFly has.

    - Wrong airlines at the wrong airports: you’ll see for example a TAM Airlines A320 at Sydney, a Ryanair B738 at San Diego and a Thai Airways B747 at Buenos Aires, Argentina. 😱

If the repaint quality and the modelling of the static aircraft would improve considerably, and they would be parked at their proper airports, (adding more parking spots for us pilots and our airliners) i wouldn’t mind seeing a few static aircraft here and there, but currently it is just too full, too chaotic and too messy.

Oh hell yeah. It’s also with the flying ai planes. Spirit or United A320 or B737 landing in Edinburgh… kinda strange. 🥴
