747 Nose lifts early on takeoff

  • Meant to report this earlier, but I haven't used the 747 much so I forgot to.

I noticed ever since the aircraft weight update, the 747's nose lifts up very early. This happens with the simulator's default 747 takeoff weight. When I manually set up the weight to heavier amounts, the nose remains on the ground, and lifts normally when reaching rotate speed.

Just curious if this was done on purpose or not.

Recreate: 747, takeoff normally without touching the weight settings, can be done anywhere

  • I can only speak for the A350, but the MCDU and OIS vspeeds are all wrong, they are way too high. I have the performance data for Qatars A350-1000 and 777 fleet. The A350 will start to lift off before rotation at lower gross weights in FS4.

I now only use Simbriefs take off perfomance data for the A350. They also have the 777 data.

You have to find the exact variant though. For the A350-1000 in aerofly, the weight variant is (WV024). You'll have to find the correct one for the 777.

This wasn't an issue previously since gross weight was fixed, so it masked the issue

  • I'm guessing it's trimmed too tail heavy in this case.

Do you have the assistance for auto-trim enabled? Secondly, do you have the assistance for automatic FMS enabled?

If both are enabled and this issue still occurs then I have to check how the pitch trim target is computed.

If you do both manually, what pitch trim did you set?

I have every assistance option turned off. As for the pitch trim, I don't touch anything 😂.

Its literally just the simulator's 747 default state. I have not done a full flight in the 747 for a while so I don't have a good pitch trim configuration, but when I increase the payload and fuel weight (say 50% on both), everything appears to be fine.

  • Ok then the issue is that you didn't touch anything. You need to set the proper pitch trim, otherwise the nose may rise on its own...

In the CDU if you insert your takeoff CG (e.g. by double clicking the line select key next to it) you see the recommended takeoff pitch trim. The trim has to be set to thst value prior to takeoff.
