  • I used to know how to do that myself and even integrated my own 3D model (created in 3ds Max) into a scenery of the Dresden TV tower. You can position your model exactly where it belongs using geographical coordinates. That's just a very rough outline. We used to have tutorials, but they were for FS2... Try asking Rodeo directly – he's very familiar with this stuff.

The positioning of objects is best done via POI.

    1. Create a building in AC3D or Blender, optionally convert it from other formats. Place image textures on it.
    2. Set it into the center of the CAD system, basement is at height 0
    3. Rotate building to the desired angle. Attention: X-axis in CAD is north direction in aerofly FS4.
    4. Run aerofly exporter within the CAD, specific for blender or AC3D.
    5. Get coordinates from Google maps and write a TSC file.
    6. Run aerofly converter program to create aerofly data.

Tips: Make sure, you use single sided faces.

    Who knows the building? ;)

    Hi Rodeo,

Thank you for your work in implementing the Parliament POI.

Would it be possible to make a small improvement to the ground layout to remove the gray plate that somewhat detracts from the visual appeal? Thanks.

Yes, of course that should work. Either delete the polygons, lower the model, or do both.

  • Well, there is a reason for it:

The aerofly groundmesh lifts up several meters at this place and gives a peak in the center of the building position. Since I was not able to modify the groundmesh, I created this base. I created this carefully to get the minimal size and height to avoid house edges being in the air. Otherwise the stairs and lower parts of the building will be partly covered by the mesh. Of course I can change the color to adjust it better to the surrounding.

Nethertheless I will talk to IPACS to get some support for groundmesh editing.
