    I've prepared a little something for today. I'm making my small Dresden scenery (including the surrounding area, "Saxon Switzerland") available to everyone, or rather, to those who don't already have it.

    The special thing about this scenery: Dresden is my birthplace (nu nu!), and I've added the Dresden TV Tower as a point of interest. It's an exact, true-to-scale model that I created myself (using 3ds Max).

    As children, we always stood on the platform at the top, where there was only a railing and nothing else, and you could look down and enjoy the view over Dresden.

    That's exactly the experience I want to share today – and here's the challenge: Get as close as possible to the railing in an R22, hover in front of it, look down, and take a screenshot (similar to mine) of how close you are to the railing and a shot of the view looking down. The easiest way is in VR. You can post screenshots here. Whoever is closest to the railing wins: My compliments! And glory and honor!

    Oh—I almost forgot the most important thing: To make the experience of looking down from this railing as realistic as possible, the ground texture has the highest resolution we have: 0.1 m/pixel. This resolution extends from the TV tower to a housing estate where I spent my childhood.

    So, I hope I haven't forgotten anything.

    Ich habe für heute noch eine Kleinigkeit vorbereitet. Ich stelle für alle, bzw. für die, die es noch nicht haben, meine kleine Dresden-Szenerie ( mit Umland "Sächsische Schweiz") zur Verfügung.

    Das Besondere an dieser Szenerie: Dresden ist meine Geburtsstadt ( nu nu! ) und ich habe dieser Szenerie als POI den Dresdner Fernsehturm hinzugefügt. Dabei handelt es sich um ein exaktes, maßstabsgetreues Model, welches ich selber erstellt habe ( mit 3ds max ).

    Als Kinder habe wir immer oben auf der Plattform gestanden, wo nur ein Geländer war und sonst nichts und man konnte schön runtergucken von oben und die Aussicht über Dresden genießen.

    Genau dieses Erlebnis will ich hier heute vermitteln - und hier kommt die Challange: Mit einem R22 so nah wie möglich an das Geländer kommen, im Schwebeflug davor stehen und runtergucken und jeweils einen Screenshot machen ( so ähnlich, wie meiner ), wie nah man vor dem Geländer steht und einen Shot vom Blick nach unten. Geht am einfachsten in VR. die Screenshots können hier gepostet werden. Wer am nächsten am Geländer ist, gewinnt: Meine Anerkennung! Und Ruhm und Ehre!

    Ach - das Wichtigste hätte ich fast vergessen: Damit das Erlebnis, von diesem Geländer aus herunterzugucken so realistisch ist, wie möglich, hat die Bodentextur die höchste Auflösung, die wir haben: 0,1 m/pixel. Diese Auflösung setzt sich vom Fernsehturm fort zu einer Siedlung hin, wo ich meine Kindheit verbrachte.

    So, ich hoffe ich habe nichts vergessen.

    Ja, das hoffe ich auch. Es gibt in Dresden eine Bürgerinitiative und es soll wohl auch schon den einen oder Anlauf gegeben haben.

    Yes, I hope so too, that the TV tower will reopen. There's a citizens' initiative in Dresden, and apparently there have already been one or two attempts.
