Aerofly 4 on Linux

  • Hi all,

just trying to run the sim on Linux but doesn't work. Works without issues on my other machine and Win10.

OS is MX 25.1 based on Debian 13 stable. Runs without trouble generally but I'm not so sure about Steam performance.

XP11 runs on Steam here but not as good as in Win10 as standalone app. Didn't check Aerofly 2 so far.

My goal is to have Aerofly 4 on Linux on the long run but currently I'm afraid that Steam in Linux here cannot compete

    with Steam in Win10.

So what exactly happens here: Installation/Download works, than start it and it starts but ends up in a black screen.

Also cannot find the main.mcf where it is in the Linux Steam machine or whereever.

PC is Amd Ryzen 5, 16gb ram, GTX 1060 6gb and 4 TB storage and it can do it with ease in Win10.

Are there a few simmers here running it perfectly on Linux?

    Cheers

    Andreas

    PC: Ritzen 7 3700X, MSI AM4 board, GTX 1060 6GB, 16 GB RAM, SSD 1,7 TB, HD 8,0 TB, Win10-64

SIMs: Aerofly FS2+FS4, FSXSE, P3D4.5, Xplane 10/11/12, MSFS

  • I recently installed linux mint and ran Aerofly FS4. The simulator worked without any problems.

  • @andiflyit It usually is an issue with the 3D driver. Check in the folder ~/.config/Aerofly FS 4/ for main.mcf and tm.log. Please post tm.log here for further evaluation.

However on some Linux distributions the above folder might be 'somewhere' else, so you have to search for it.

  • Check in the folder ~/.config/Aerofly FS 4/ for main.mcf and tm.log.

The files where not present but I found it, works now. I copied it over from the windows pc.

Also installed AFS2 because of some addons, all works.

    Thank you.

    Cheers

  • I would like to know how the performance of FS4 is on Linux as I'm thinking about shifting to linux
