Question about time zone

I would like to ask for clarification regarding how time and time zones are handled in Aerofly FS.

I noticed that when I set a specific time (for example, 00:00) at an airport like Singapore, the in-game lighting does not correspond to the expected local time (it appears to be daytime instead of nighttime). This led me to believe that the simulator might be using UTC or the device’s local time instead of the departure location’s local time.

Could you please explain:

- Whether Aerofly FS uses UTC, system time, or local airport time by default?

- If there is an option to synchronize the time with the local time zone of the selected location?

- How I can accurately set real-world local time conditions for a specific airport?

That's not what you asked for before. I can't read minds (yet)...

Like I said, the menu allows you to set UTC time. Depending on where the aircraft is this changes when the sun rises or sets just like in the real world. And since UTC is the time that pilots use we use UTC as well.

Oh thought you can utc to the other times

UTC is the universal time used in aviation. You have to calculate your local time from UTC

Would it be better to change to local time like X-Plane and add real-world time options?

I think the addition of a real-world time option and a local time option would be great.

The game’s seasonal algorithm seems incorrect. In winter, it gets dark in my country around 18:00. Even if I set the time to 15:00 UTC in Aerofly, it still appears bright in the simulator. Türkiye operates on UTC+3, so 15:00 UTC corresponds to 18:00 local time here—when it should already be dark.

These situations occur in other parts of the world too. Indeed, the current time clock is off and does not work according to real life.

In reality it is not that hard to get used to. For any location the probable time zone time is later if the longitude is east and earlier if west. The time zone changes an hour for every 15 degrees of longitude but of course there are some exceptions and most temperate countries add an hour on in the local summer period.

At 104 degrees east Singapore is locally 7 hours later than UTC in true time but the plus 8 hours time zone of China, Eastern Indonesia, The Philippines and Western Australia has been selected by the government of Singapore.

To get the mean noon sun at Singapore in Aerofly one ought to select 7 hours earlier than UTC, that is 05:00 but in reality 04:00 is necessary. Nearby (in longitude) UTC plus 7 hours Bangkok works with 7 hours which must mean that Aerofly works off the chosen government time zone rather than true geographic time. It must be another database thing?
