Airport Facilities

  • One thing I really hope to see improved in Aerofly FS4 is airport ground facilities and services. The sim already looks fantastic and performs incredibly well, but airports still feel a bit lifeless once you’re on the ground.

Right now, there are no usable jet bridges, fuel trucks, baggage handling, catering vehicles or any kind of interactive ground operations. Even simple ambient airport activity would make a huge difference for immersion. Taxiing to a gate only to stop at a static stand with no working services makes airports feel unfinished compared to the quality of the flying experience itself.

It would be great if future updates could include:

    • Functional jet bridges
    • Re-fueling services
    • Baggage and catering vehicles
    • Pushback and marshal crews
    • Ground power / air conditioning units
    • More animated airport activity overall

These features would add a lot to the realism and make airline operations feel far more complete, especially for users who enjoy full gate-to-gate procedures.

  • From my point of view — and I could be completely wrong since I have very little programming or development knowledge — the features I mentioned above seem like they would be easier to implement and could potentially be rolled out more quickly, even if only at major international airports to begin with.

Things like improved weather systems, better optimisation, and new aircraft are obviously also very high on the Aerofly FS4 community wish list, so there’s a good chance those are already being reviewed or actively worked on by the developers.

Overall though, the simulator is already excellent. The visuals, performance, and smoothness are honestly among the best available, and I’m sure the team at IPACS are doing everything they can to continue expanding and improving the sim over time.
