Aerofly FS 4 autogen streaming

  • First off, I am a long time X-Plane user and have just recently purchased this simulator. I am perplexed by the detail of autogen streaming all over the world compared to the poor representation of scenery done in X-Plane 12. Since I bought the sim, I have been flying to a lot of places in a sort of discover flights. Places I have been to and places I have never been to IRL.

However, one question is bothering me. Does anybody know for how long we will be able to stream the scenery and why do we have to stream it in the first place? Wouldn't it be better if we could download the entire world like we already have for Europe and the USA?

  • Not the ortho textures, the autogen buildings or what's it called inside the sim, "cultivation". The .toc files, not the .ttc files.

Are these stored locally for world coverage or available through streaming? If so, where are they, I only have the "eu" and "us" folders inside the cultivation folder. I was under the assumption these were being streamed in for the rest of the world. Are they? If I untick "Global scenery access", do I get to see the buildings in Asia?

My primary concern is what if Ipacs revokes the possibilty for Global scenery?

  • Thanks for your quick reply.

The main strenght of this sim seems to me is the reliability and smoothness.

I am getting hooked on this very fast loading and smooth operating simulator. Just yesterday I was looking forward to loading it up (instant!) when arriving home to do a quick little bush flight over some mountains. But there lies the question, as I am slowly getting addicted to this quick fix of flight as opposed to loading times of X-Plane with all of it's mods, for how long can we expect the Global scenery streaming to be available to us? I don't want to wake up one day realizing the online component is turned off and I get no buildings or textures outside the base game and dlc areas.

So if there exists some sort of guarantee of always being able to stream the scenery, my question then becomes irrelevant.

If they have bought the license or is using the license under the agreed terms with map providers like I think EOX is what Aerofly is using, then there won’t be issues in its usage.

If it’s like the case of Autoortho (which simmers use mostly in x plane 12.) (Which doesn’t have any official statement of usage) (I am not comparing flight sims here IPACS so please don’t delete) then maybe the providers may block the servers from streaming.

Since IPACS and EOX are based on Europe I don’t think they will have issues with the legal usage unless EOX has a specific rule stating clearly that it should be used under limited terms.

At this time we have no plans to end streaming anytime soon. Some lower resolution aerial images are available even if you are offline and if you have already visited a certain area then buildings, trees, etc. which are still in you local cache folder can still be loaded as well.
